Why are we pissed at the defense? The offense is responsible vs. BUF, DAL, and today
For as much as we rail on the D... the offense is responsible for both losses and the near loss in Dallas. We hold Pit to 23 (with a ridiculous time-of-possession deficit mind you) and just keep going 3-and-out and 3-and-out.
Yes the D was lacking still, I mean Pittsburgh didn't punt until their last possession... but we're used to this bend-don't-break style by now.
Like c'mon offense... Brady, O'Brien, and the rest of you... get it together. We're supposed to be a DOMINANT offense and we've ***** the bed when it's counted on numerous occasions now.

Re: Why are we pissed at the defense? The offense is responsible vs. BUF, DAL, and t
when you have the best offensive player in the league and because your defense is so pathetically unthinkably awful, he barely ever gets the ball. there is so much pressure on the offense to score every time. if we dont, like today, we are in deep crap. BB better have a miracle or we are in deep dog doo doo

The ridiculous time of possession deficit is totally on the defense. However, your point about the offense is valid.
I can't even begin to tell you want the offensive game plan was. It wasn't obvious. It felt like a "Throw stuff at the wall and see what works".
They should have been able to light up the Steelers defense with short passes on the inside to both Gronk and Hernandez. They should have also been able to run screens to the RB, TW or WR.
I was very surprised they didn't use more 3 TE sets with Gronk (lesser) or Solder out there blocking to help shut down Woodley.
Re: Why are we pissed at the defense? The offense is responsible vs. BUF, DAL, and t
They didn't do that bad, aside from struggling with the tight coverage that the Jets first showed on us in the playoffs last year.
The refs also didn't help us, there was a lot of contact past five yards, as seen when Ocho tried to get deep, and on the replays when there's basically a guy holding Welkers jersey.
But pretty hard to get into a rhythm, especially against that Defense, when you're on the bench 3/4's of the game.
Re: Why are we pissed at the defense? The offense is responsible vs. BUF, DAL, and t
I have to partially agree...I mean we had a chance to tie the game up after halftime...then the offense goes 3 and out....besides that one drive that ended in a TD to hernandez(shouldve been gronk) this offense never was able to move against the steelers defense either due to horrible playcalling, penalties or brady taking a sack
we also seemed to abandon the run for whatever reason....limited carries for green ellis, none for Ridley/woodhead..we beat the Jets defense because we ground/pounded. the run really opens up our offense
on the other hand, maybe we wouldve had more time of posession if the Pats defense was able to get the steelers off the field...theres no reason the opposing QB should be completing to guys left wide open on 3rd and 15 or 3rd and 13....thats when you need to tighten everything up and not play a loose zone.
all in all, it was an ugly horrible game....the team looked like they werent prepared after 2 weeks off. im expecting a better effort next week
Re: Why are we pissed at the defense? The offense is responsible vs. BUF, DAL, and t
Both offense and defense were terrible. Yet, it was a one score game. Pittsburgh came out and played inspired, brilliant football, yet it was a one score game. The game was in Pitts and our team had just been away from the game for a week. Yet, it was a one score game.
Maybe I'm a "fanboy", but I think we're still very much SB contenders.
Re: Why are we pissed at the defense? The offense is responsible vs. BUF, DAL, and t
It might have been a one-score game, but we got beat pretty bad all-around.
And I'm not saying our defense doesn't deserve to be called out... it was bad. But look at it... I mean our secondary is disgustingly thin. It's about expectations... we all knew what was going to happen: A) we weren't going to get to the QB, as usual, and B) we were going to have pass-defense issues. And hey, both those were big problems. But in the end, we held them to 23 points... which (at least in my mind) should've been enough to win the game.
But on offense? Against a banged-up Steelers D AND with an extra week to prepare? That's just unacceptable.
