Default Peter King Re-Defines Irony

I actually don't mind Peter King. He's about 1,000 times more readable now that he isn't writing about high school girls softball.

But I couldn't help but roll my eyes at the minor irony in his top 3 items from the 10 Things I Think I Think segment.

Quote:
Ten Things I Think I Think

1. I think the only notable thing Jason Taylor said Sunday was that he plans to play one more year -- this one -- and then retire to be an actor. The reason this is significant is that it will murder his trade value.

You think the Chargers are going to trade their second-round pick (which Bill Parcells will say isn't enough anyway) in 2009 for a guy who's going to play for them for four months? No.

Look, I can tell you this about Taylor, who namby-pambied all around his desire to be traded on Sunday: He wants to be traded. Badly. But when he says he plans to play one year, that makes it far more likely that the Dolphins will stick him in some sort of ugly limbo if he does not report to the team for training camp. Miami will not give Taylor away, and I can't believe anyone will give much more than a low third-round pick for a guy committed to play only one season.

2. I think we've all had just about enough of the Jason Taylor story. Oy. Bring back Spygate.

3. I think if the Chargers dealt for Jason Taylor, he'd be persuaded -- on a good team, with a chance to win the Super Bowl this year and next -- to play two years, not one. Given that scenario, I'd offer the Dolphins a low two for him.
So let me get this straight: You are sick of the Jason Taylor story. So, logically, you leads off with Jason Taylor item, then COMPLAIN about how sick you are of the story, then follow it up with ANOTHER item about Jason Taylor.

The media really does defy logic.

Peter King is a moron..I used to like him and I think I ignored some of the stupid things like above he would right because I thought he was knowledgible about football but the Spygate fiasco proved he either doesn't know as much as we thought or he just choses to ignore it. Either way I don't read him anymore.

I have never been a huge fan of King's. Even when he was a major Patriots Yahoo, I always found him lightweight and somewhat preachy, but never taking a stand on much of anything other than moral issue things.

I am not surprised by anything he writes.

I read his column, but I do more of just skimming through it to see if anything interests me rather than reading his whole column. I always avoid his 10th bullet point on his Ten things I think I think. I don't care about his daughter or Starbucks.

How does King get away with writing that the Chargers have a second round pick in 2009? I understand a mistake on his part (although I consider that a pretty big faux pas for an NFL writer), but where are the editors or fact checkers?

Memo to Peter Queen of All Mediots: the San Diego Steroids no longer own their '09 2rd-rounder; that belongs to the NEP now. You're welcome.

"Bring back Spygate." Bring back Spygate? Are you telling us that you'd rather write about nothing, which is what "Spygate" is, than about actual football players and where they might actually be playing next season?

I haven't clicked this holier-than-thou turd's byline since Columbus Day...and I haven't missed a damn thing.

King is one of the [FONT=Arial]biggest stooges in the business. And he hates bb which couldn't be more obvious. Anyone who force feeds people girls softball and pro war propoganda in an NFL column deserves to be hung from the tallest tree.

I can't blame King. After all, it's so hard to keep things straight when two first-day draft picks (CAR 1st, SD 2nd) change hands.

Seriously, it wouldn't surprise me if a situation like this was exactly why the Pats were so thrilled when SD offered their second for #69 this year.

Not to go OT, but Queen is def. not pro-war. He happened to befriend a St.Louis Rams fan who's done multiple tours in Iraq/Afghanistan; his MOS is defusing land mines, IIRC.
