Dereliction of duty: the Arlen Specter story
Cold, Hard Football Facts for May 15, 2008

The first thing you should know about Sen. Arlen Specter is that he has lived a life of great devotion to the United States.

The Pennsylvania Republican was born humbly 78 years ago in true American fashion, to immigrant parents who escaped the hellhole of the future Soviet Union just a few years before the Russian Revolution. The Senator’s working-class father, Harry, proved his devotion to his adopted homeland as a humble private in the U.S. Army during World War I, and was wounded by shrapnel in the Argonne Forest. The Senator himself followed in his father’s military footsteps, and served in the Air Force during the Korean War.

LOL. He deserves all the ridicule that he's gonna get for his bizarre behavior. What the hell is the point of pursuing this personal agenda against the Pats except for an irrational dislike as a football fan OR even worse a rational vendetta against the NFL fueled by an alliance with Comcast? The second would make him look even worse if it came out to be true.

The bashing of Spector= good

The buying into American propaganda = bad

Seriously, the comical comments on Iran are reason enough for the author to just stick with football.

I'm a Jets fan, as alot of you know after our debate the other day. However, Why in the hell is a member of the Senate spending his time on something like this, when there are so many other important things he could be concentrating on. How is the outcome of this gonna serve the state of PA and our country, more than the many other issues he could be working on?

Because Specter wants to nullify the Anti-Trust Exemption. He doesn't really give two cents about the Pats, Eagles or any other team. The Pats are just his door in. This is why we're starting to see unity within the NFL. Next it will be the fans and lastly and begrudgingly, the media. Specter is on the Subcommittee on Antitrust, Competition Policy and Consumer Rights. He's on some kind of crusade and his biggest obstacle is Goodell. In fact I would surmise that he would implement a league wide investigation to prove the failures of the NFL's upper management to control spying if he ever gets that far.

As for the real life issues the country has; like none of them could see this coming. It's their job to prevent this stuff. Now that it's here, they're lost and have nothing but bandaids for solutions.

It's pretty easy to send a message to Sen. Specter:

I don't have a problem with venting a little on this forum, but if anyone has an opinion about this issue, it only takes a couple of minutes to tell him directly.

Nice to see shared common sense overcoming a sporting rivalry.
I think a lot of people all over the country feel the same way...
