Dante was here before BB; at least during Parcels and Pete Carroll, and maybe before that? He's like furniture that comes with the house!

From a Jackie MacMullan article prior to the SB loss:
HTML Code:
http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/articles/2008/01/31/no_scars_of_failure_for_veteran_coachs_offensive_line/?page=2
"Dante is one of the best teachers I've ever been around," (Brad) Seely said. "He does a great job of taking any subject and simplifying it so anyone can understand.

"When Ron Meyer hired me with the Colts, he put me in charge of special teams. I didn't know what the heck was going on, but they knew Dante could help me. They knew he'd find a way to make me learn it."

Any one who has ever listened to this guy speak, seen him in action, or had the pleasure to interact with him realizes he lives and breathes the game. Scars IS football. Like Belichick, this guy appears to love nothing more than to be around the game and to coach his players. Belichick and so many of the guys he surrounds himself with are among the greatest teachers in the game...

And as for the results of the SB... consider this fact...

Last year (including the post-season) Tom Brady attempted 655 passes and was sacked 29 times. That's one sack for every 22.6 pass attempts...

Those numbers compare pretty favorably to the rest of the league... especially if you take away the 5 sacks in said Super Bowl that throw the ratio off a bit...

Its no secret that the Pats O-Line looked outclassed in dealing with the G-Men's relentless pass rush from 4 and sometimes 5 Pass Rush specialists at a time. But in the end, the Patriots were still a few defensive plays from winning every single game of the season and a fourth Super Bowl title... All on Scarnecchia's watch. Scars has converted wrestlers alongside so-called reaches and they have thrived, and second round picks converted into perennial Pro Bowlers...

I'm not so sure what he has accomplished and what he stands for as a coach doesn't speak for itself...

You may wake up tomorrow with the Mighty Scars looking down on you in your bed- cradling your Adam's Apple in a small pool of blood in the palm of his hand.

Don't **** with the Dante.

And for the record Scarnecchia has been with the Pats since 1982... only leaving in 1989-90 when he was brought over to the Colts by Ron Meyer, who originally brought him to the Pats.

Pretty sick tenure.

Basically that also backs up what I was saying.
He is not here because he has dirt on BB

How would you explain his tenure pre-BB? I can tell you....he is a good coach.
I am sure that if he had dirt and was going to blackmail someone with it, it wouldn't be to keep his line coach job. I remember people saying that he could have advanced his career in the past, but turned it down because he was content where he was.

I just had a quick look in my copy of the Patriots Media Guide (edition 2000!). Scarnecchia was with the Pats from 1982-88 as TE/ST coach, then left for the Colts from 1989-90 to coach their O-Line, returned in 1991 and was responsible for ST/TEs, and O-Line as well as other various capacities under different HCs.
(there's even a short section on Matt Walsh as video assistant in the MG )
(And of course a bit on a certain 6th round draft pick, 199th overall )

Dante has supressed his ego to serve many different head coaches.

It's Ken Walters that holds the Parcells, Belichick towel snapping Super 8's and i hope they never see the light of day.

I'm glad for it, but I can't help but notice that Steve was Walsh's successor. I didn't realize he was with that Jets now.... Ha! That is even more juicy!
I think your argument would have to include some facts. Such as how old is Steve? How long did he work for the Pats. At this point you are saying that Dante has been here, what, 25 years, because of his son, who may have been in dipaers through all of the coaching changes.
Lets just get this straight though? The Pats would keep someone at the low-skill level position of football coach only in order to retain his son in the high skill level of running a camera?

Stop trying to deflate my shock value story with useless facts and penetrating questions. I can't be bothered with those while I'm training myself for that Boston Herald job that will soon be available. This is how it's done right? Would it help if I told you that an anonymous source told me that Dante helps Ernie examine the video footage and break the other team's codes?
