Default Maybe the refs should start being fined

Watching monday night countdown, there was so much horrible refereeing this weekend. Multiple games this weekend were horrible, pats, eagles, chicago and probably more. Maybe if the referee start getting fined for horrible calls or missing a real bad call.. Like the hit on brady. The guy gets fined after the game, but it wasn't called at all. I would be mad as a Pats fan on this guy being penalizes but it didn't count in the game when it needed to count and could of hurt the opposing team.

Maybe? No, they 100% need to be fined when they f*** up the simplest of calls.

Fined and suspended for the season if there is a history established. The eagles game last week looked like it got real out of hand at a couple spots. Sure we don't want flags all the time, but keep things under wrap and a lot if this nonsense can be avoided.

I agree that it looks like refs are using calls that you can use on just about every play (holding, illegal contact, hands to the face, pass interference, personal foul on QB hits, etc) to affect a pre-defined narrative. The problem is that nobody cares until the call goes against you...and then it just sounds like homers complaining. It all evens out, calls were bad both ways, it is what it is, blah, blah, blah.

I think a turning point may have been the Bears game yesterday. That punt return (how sweet was that by the way) was an obvious bit of tampering by the official that threw that flag. Not only was there no holding, the play explicitly called for providing no resistance to get at Hester. The official threw the flag as soon as it became apparent the play was going to work. The holding call was made up after the fact and happened to be called on a guy who didn't come within several yards of touching anyone.

The Bears likely lose that game anyway, but it was by no means over (kicking off down 3 with 30 seconds left). The problem is not that it was a bad call...it was obviously a made up call. As a result, I think you are going to see fewer calls late in games unless the infractions are clear. It would only take one or two more of these type of situations for the NFL to face a perception of being the WWE.

Or worse, of being the NBA.

And just to be fair, I thought the PF penalty against Buff at the end of the 1st half, immed. before Brady threw the INT to Woody (which was Brady's fault, not the Sherrif's) was dead wrong. That was a textbook after-the-catch open-field tackle by their DB.

I have a feeling that, if left to their own devices (i.e.: not ordered by Jetdell & the suits in NYC),
many of the zebras, esp. those working before 2006, would throw only half of the PF/PI flags
that they have to throw nowadays.

Goodell, Saturday and Co should be fined.
Too much pressure on the refs to throw flags. They'l get better with time.

Fined? They should be prosecuted! There are two kinds of people I can't stand more than any others: pedophiles, and sports officials who miss calls.

Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.
