Default Pats visit with DL Darrion Scott

Free agent DL Darrion Scott visited with the Patriots on Thursday.

Scott, who led the Vikings in sacks in 2006, has talent but missed 2007 with a broken foot and was cited for marijuana possession in December. The Patriots have no problem taking on troubled players they feel can buy in.

For the record, that line is not in the Boston Globe article. Opinion of Mr. rotoworld, whoever he is.

Not unless he can play linebacker. The legitimate concern about how the Patriots will turn over the aging linebacker corps led to that IMO.

Hopefully, Hobson is part of the answer.

If his foot, and character, check out, he could be a very young and potentially good addition to the d-line. Perhaps we will see more of a 4-3 than usual ?

This team is loading up. Scott would provide tremendous depth up front. Seymour, Warren, Wright, Green, Scott and Thomas would be a nice group at DE, with each having the ability to play inside in certain schemes.

D. Scott has been a very solid player in the NFL and this would be a good signing at minimum risk, (provided the foot is fine).

It's still April, the draft is a week away. The FO will address the LB situation. But, remember, BB likes to have his sytem rely on smart, veteran LB's. Players like Hobson and a rookie pick allow the Pats to rely less on Seau and Bruschi on every down.

The "experts" fail to realize that while we lost Samuel and Gay (way over priced) to big deals, we have added Webster, Bryant and Hobson to low cost deals. These are quality veterans coming ina t low money deals. Plus, Samuel was a big loss, but Gay?????

Look for a Gholston, Rivers or Groves in rd. 1 of the draft with a MLB targetted on day 2. This team will have a quality unit on D by the time camp starts.

This guy Scott looks like he'd fit more into the DE rotation. 290 is a little big for a 'backer.

Scott would be a 3-4 DE, not a LB...
