Default Reason to have hope for Chad Jackson

Pretty good article on how difficult it is to project WR production from the college level. Shows how very few star WRs make it big the first few years.

Take a read.

Dear god! Not another Chad Jackson thread!

Also, it's easier to project someone when they aren't on the IR for the majority of their first two seasons.

A good reminder - though I think a great many of us were saying exactly that about WRs at the time Jackson was being drafted... i.e. don't expect much his first season even in the best of health and circumstances.

Personally my hope in year 1 was that by the time the playoffs came he'd be catching 1-2 passes per game and would have been stretching the field where Gaffney and Caldwell could not.

Of course, given injury and adding Moss and Stallworth last year, I think we knew heading into Year 2 that he wasn't going to be expected to do much - if indeed he wasn't placed on IR for the year.

So here we are in Year 3. He's had a decent amount of time to digest the playbook, and practice - though injuries did limit him. I still don't think we should expect him to be playing like a 3 year veteran given all that he's been through.

But while I know I'm alone in thinking so, I do think the offense would benefit tremendously with another deep threat on the opposite side of the field from Moss - and perhaps even more so, some insurance in Jackson in case Moss tweaks a hamstring would be especially welcome.

Never in Patriots history has a player enjoyed more poularity with less production.

This video is the only reason why people are Chad Jackson fans who gush over his potential since there aren't any Chad Jackson NFL highlights:

(this video is 2 years old BTW)

Everyone should shut up about Chad Jackson until training camp/preseason.

...Unless you want to make wagers on how well he's going to perform in training camp/preseason.

How bout a wager on how he will play in the Regular Season could we talk about that?

If we don't speculate on players like Chad Jack who is it ok to Speculate about?

I think Brady is going to have a good season, how bout you guys?

Yes. Please advise on what players I am allowed to speculate and talk about.

TIA.
