Default Did anyone else see Health Evans Going at it with Lombardi?

I can't remember what day exactly but there was a discussion between Health and Michael Lombardi on NFLN and it was a heated talk. I was suprised they were going at it so hard on national TV and you could feel the tension between the two.

Article (NFL.com):

Ex-fullback Evans brings bruising style to NFL Network studio

Seems that the folks in Lions country took notice of the heated exchange between Evans, who joined NFL Network in late August after retiring from the Saints, and former NFL front office executive and current NFL Network analyst Michael Lombardi.

The two men were giving their opinions on the best division in the league, and things were going smooth enough until Lombardi explained his choice of the NFC North was based on the strength of the division's quarterbacks, including Stafford. Evans chose the NFC South, insisting that those four quarterbacks were better, including Panthers starter Cam Newton, the No. 1 overall pick in this year's NFL Draft.

Lombardi then heaped more praise on Stafford, but Evans wasn't buying it, sticking with his man Newton.

"He brings a lot of things to the table that Matthew Stafford will never bring to the table," Evans said of Newton.

"Heath, are you kidding me? Matthew Stafford doesn't bring it to the table?" responded Lombardi, his volume rising noticeably. "I don't mind debating with you, but you gotta get real. Watch Matthew Stafford play before you talk about it ... it's not even close."

Things got even testier from there. Evans said he wasn't strictly equating the two as quarterbacks, but he did point out that Stafford, the No. 1 overall pick in 2008's NFL Draft, has yet to make it through a season without missing significant time due to injuries.

Detroit News columnist Terry Foster was another observer who disagreed with Evans' take, even accusing the Auburn alum of favoritism in comparing Stafford with Newton, who won the Heisman Trophy for the Tigers last season.

Where did Stafford play his college ball? Oh yeah, Georgia.

I actually like the style that Heath Evans brings to the NFLN analyst pool.

Evans looked like an idiot, although Stafford is neither elite nor has he consistently been on the field I'd take my chances with him ANY day of the week over Cam Newton, who has yet to play in a single game.

Anyone with a suspicious mind might think that these 'heated discussions' are performed only to generate controversy and publicity - along with the extra 'hits' and viewers that might entail.

Sometime during TC, Evans and Lombardi were debating another topic. I dont' recall the topic, but Evans was consitently talking over Lombardi and not letting him finish a sentence. I suspect that there really is some tension between the two. I like Lombard, and thought newcomer Evans should not have cut him off or talk over him nearly so much as he did.

LaCanforia went at it a couple of times with Billick during the draft.

My guess is there should be some level of disagreement with players/coaches/front office/ media types. i like Lombardi the best and tend to like front office guys the best.

Ofcourse, if players were so smart, Mike Singletary would have hoisted his 4th or 5th Matt Millen trophy this past February.

Evans might be this generation's Bob Trumpy.

I had the misfortune of tuning in to (borrowing a term from another poster) Screaming Clown Hour with Crackpipe Irvin and Knuckledragger Sapp along with the painfully stupid Marshall Faulk, a DJ and some annoying unattractive chick hosting. Quality TV!!!!!

Kurt Warner was also on the show but was drowned out by the screaming idiot twins. As for for Faulk, did you ever notice that simpleton's smug look of achievement and complete satisfaction whenever he stumbles through and actually finishes one of his idiotic statements.
