Default Rule changes: No forceout, no 5-yd facemask, coin toss, direct snap fumble

-No more forceout rule. A receiver who's force out will not get the catch unless he is literally carried out of bounds.

-No more 5 yard facemasks. 15 or nothing.

-Team winning a coin toss can now defer their choice until the second half.

-A direct snap from the center that doesn't touch the QB is now a live ball (just like a shotgun snap). Previously it was a false start.

The facemask thing is a little strange. Are we going to seethe equivilant of RB's "flopping" like we see NBA players do?

I dont like the face mask change, so there saying even the smallest of a face mask incidental or not warrants a possible game changing 15 yard penality?

Also, I HATE the force out change, how can you be expected to catch the ball and keep your feet in bounds if the defender has the easy option of just pushing you out?

That is not only stupid but now a HUGE advantage for the defense. I dont like that one at all.

The forceout one is a little odd and aids the D way too much. Atleast give the reciever a chance to earn his pay and make the play.

accually if you grab the facemask let go (which is what the 5 yard pently was) is not going to be called at all only if you grab and twist.

This wasn't already a rule?

Probally already been explained before - but can someone elaborate?

Nope. We've had many lively debates on this. The NFL's rule was very convoluted, but what it came down to was that you could not defer. You had to choose to receive or kick, essentially.

The end of the 5 yard facemask rule is welcome, but I'm not sure about the forceout. Seems open to abuse. On the other hand, penalizing incidental facemasks seemed pedantic, and I'm glad it's been done away with.

So technically the following can happen?

Winner: Defer
Loser: Recieve

Winner: Kickoff (Chose to)
Loser: Recieve again

I think a lot of teams will defer just ot have the ball in the second half of the game.
