Default 2 Consecutives years the vaunted Patriots defense lost Championships

It struck me while watching the replay of the Colts-Patriots AFCCG last night.
Both the 2006 and 2007 seasons ended and Champsionships lost because the defense allowed 80 yard TD drives with less than 2 minutes to go.
We should have 5 Super Bowl titles ,not 3. But we no longer have a clutch defense, we have the kind of defense we had in the late 70's, a soft defense that you couldnt count on when it counted.
Im sick of all the offense talk, until we get back to being a defense first team like we were in 2001, 2003, and 2004, I dont like our chances.

there i feel better.......

The team lost the last 2 years. Both the offense and the defense had failures that had they not happenned would have won both games.

This whole blame playoff losses on one side of the ball thing should be left to Peyton Manning's apologists.

they had the lead in both games with 2 minutes to play and other team backed to their own 20. Thats the bottom line. 32 points allowed in the second half in 2006. 14 points allowed in the 4th qtr in 2007. The game was won both years and the defense allowed the unthinkable both years.
If its baseball and your team leading 2-1 going into the 9th inning of Game 7 of the WS and 2 years in a row your closer blows it, you're going to blame the offense?
We had it both times.
People,
Tom Brady and the offense is not the problem. It wasnt either year. We had better offenses both years than we did in 2001.

The offense only scored 14 points and wasn't able to get into field goal range with 35 seconds and 3 timeouts at their disposal.

14 points was enough to win that game, they had a 14-10 lead with 2 minutes to play and the Giants needed to go the length of the field. I dont know about you but i didnt feel confident.

100% Correct - win as a TEAM - lose as a team. The coaches, offense, defense & special teams have no one to blame but themselves.
2008 is our year again....finally!!!

I don't feel confident either.

Lifer's right, When we had the lead and needed a stop, the defense couldn't do it. all year the defese had trouble. masked with huge leads that made teams one dimensional against us, thus easier to defend. But put us in a game vs the Eagles or the Ravens, and we had to score points. Our offense needed to carry our defense.

With the game on the line, and you need to make a stop. Our defense could not.

your threads rock, lifer

"I hope we lose opening day" - I hope we lose opening day

"Patriots gave a TD in last 2:00 of all 4 Super Bowls " - Patriots gave a TD in last 2:00 of all 4 Super Bowls

is this part 2 of that last one?
