Default Anyone see a need for a backup veteran QB to grab in Free Agency?

I would like to see the team get a veteran backup QB instead of having to rely on Cassell or Guiterrez to play.

It looks as if 2008 will be the year where teams saw what the Giants did to the Pats OL and may be blitzing more often than ever.

With that being said,If somehow Brady does get injured on a blitz/sack even if Tom is out only for a quarter or two I would like to see a veteran backup for the first time in several years since Flutie,Huard and Miller were aboard.

I think of the Veteran QBs out of a job right now,Gus Frerotte may be the best backup of a poor bunch or maybe Chris Simms becomes available if the Bucs cut him with all of thier QBs they have now.

Are you satisfied with the QB corps we have right now after Brady or are you like me and want a vet ready to take the reigns in case of an emergency?.

I would trade Cassell to a team for a lower round draft pick say 5th or 6th or maybe a 6th and 7th round pick and grab a vet from what is out there,I think Guiterrez would be my pick to stick around.

Nope.

Nothing out there better than what we have. Some guys with mostly bad experience and no familiarity with the system doesn't represent an upgrade. I would hope they find another diamond in the rough in the draft, perhaps even one who could sneak onto the PS. I would not trade Cassel unless someone blew my doors off AND I really liked Gutierrez progression.

Hopefully they will figure out a more consistent way to pass protect and run block, maybe even via talent upgrade, so that our remarkably durable QB <knock on wood> doesn't have to finish the season nursing nagging injuries FOR LIKE THE UMPTEENTH FREAKIN' SEASON IN A ROW!!!

The mental drain on a guy like Brady who takes his job incredibly seriously is tough enough without getting the snot beat out of you on a fairly regular basis. I know they don't allow a ton of sacks unless we fact the Giants in a Superbowl, but they still allow way too many hits and knock downs, at times inexplicably. Sooner or later that is bound to cost us. It has to STOP.

Teams have been blitzing the hell out of Brady for a long time. It rarely results in a victory. It worked in the Super Bowl because the collapse of the offensive line was so complete and rapid. That's not something that'll happen very often.

It's too bad the Redskins picked Todd Collins back up. It would of been nice to get him and have him finish up his career with his hometown team and perhaps a superbowl ring.....

Gus Frerotte is AWFUL. And Gruden used to LOVE Chris Simms, yet now he has brought in about 7 QBs ahead of him. That should tell you something.

I'm not 100% satisfied with Cassell and Guiterrez but I would not pick up

a veteran quarterback. Both our players have some experience with the

Pats system. A veteran would be starting from scratch. If Brady got

hurt, Cassell would be inserted and the system modified to suit Matt's

talents.

Brunell is the only FA QB out there that wouldn't make me cringe if I had to see him under canter. With all the needs on defense, there's no way he comes to town with the salary he'd demand.

Chris Simms or Mark Brunell would be the only ones I consider.. Other than that.. stay what we got,and let us pray that Brady is healthy again..
