Sorry I'm so slow to respond.

Yes, you're right that their talent level will be better next year. But their talent level next year is not a particular threat to the Patriots, IMO, and their signings will, in the long term, make it more difficult to become a true threat in the AFC East.

As I said in my original response, I take the long term view.

It's tougher but not by alot, i don't really see much competition for the divisional title.

08 is going to be a tough season for Pats to compete because NFL teams will be healthy and improved. Pats needs to play O and D equally well.

You are aware that despite our big spendng spree we are still very comfortable cap wise. Especially after we cut D-slob.

I think the toughest part of next year for the Pats, is the 5 trips to the West Coast...The Dolphins are about 3 years away from being truly competetive, the Jets are about 2 years and a Solid QB away (especially if they do somehow get Dmac). The Bills are always just on the edge of being good but find a way to blow games. No idea why that team is so cursed...

I think the Pats, (As an objective fan) will be fine in the AFC East, will win the East again and lock up a Playoff Spot by playing smart solid football.

Couple years from now, that could change. But they'll be fine (which as an "objective fan" I hate because that means they'll probably give us a tough game in a spot we need a win).

I think the Bills will be tougher this year and should finish a relatively close second to the Pats. I think it is possible that the Pats will not run the table in the AFC East and will lose at least one game, most probably at Buffalo. I look for the Pats to go 14-2 or 13-3 in 2008. The Jets have made a lot of moves, some good and some questionable. I think that they are at least somewhat making moves out of a panic and/or frustration. The NY fans are pretty upset after a dismal 2007 and one more season like that might spell the end for Mangini and/or the GM. Changing around the team as much as they did can easily backfire if all the new parts don't mesh well.

Its only 4 trips to the West coast. Oak, SD, San Fran, and Seattle.

Personally, I hope they switch it up so no team has to do that in a given year. Its going to be interesting to see if they keep the same rotation beyond 2009 or if they mix it up a bit so that there is less traveling in a given year. In other words, the AFC East wouldn't play the AFC West and the NFC West in the same year, as is the case this year.
