For those who are old enough, MTV used to be the source of music and music news... You had video's, you had concerts, you IRS the cutting edge. But now when do you see music video's , in fact does anyone make music video's anymore??? And in fact does anyone make real music anymore??/
Point being Espn used to be about sports , sports and yes more sports.. Now its about who looks like the next mike walker , the editor of National Enquier... Between Espn Radio, the overblown graphics at sportscenter, the 900 people on nfl countdown, ...
Please give me nfl network, any day of the week..

ESPN is freakin' useless, unless you want to know about some Top-10 list or an artificially manufactured bracket-style tournament, or the results of some poll that 60-thousand losers with nothing better to do vote in.
Who's now? Not ESPN, that's for damn sure.

Amen to that! I used to watch it religiously with my first cup of joe in the morning to help ease into the day watching highlights and scores. Now, I might flick thru for 10 seconds to catch a score on the ticker and that's it.

Great Point, but this topic probably belongs in the Pub.
I agree 100% with you. NFL Channel is my favorite channel on TV, my kids know when daddy comes into the room, to flip the TV to 212 and walk out. I would also suggest you check out the NHL Network (Finally giving me interest in Hockey again since the strike/lockout) the Big 10 Network, and when it launches, the SEC Network. Fox Sports is ok, they do a lot of local stuff. I get Colorado Highschool football on those channels in the fall, interesting stuff. Lots of College sports too. Not so much of the 12 guys in studio talking about the same NBA Trade for 30 minutes.
Direct TV, Sports package, I get about 22 channels related to sports that Aren't ESPN channels. It keeps me smiling, especially in the long off season. Only bummer, I don't get any Pro sports not considered my Area. (Mid South) So I have a lot of blackouts on North East Hockey or B-Ball. I get all the Dallas Stars or Mavericks I can stand, which I can't stand much of anything Dallas related. But all the College sports I could ever want.
As for music, that's what the music channels are for. XM Channels on the Direct TV package (No, I'm not a salesman for Direct TV) I get about 50 music channels that I can just tune into and give a listen. No videos, but I'm past the age of caring who Madonna is making out with in this months video or who Prince is trying to make into a star. (I haven't watched MTV since the 80s so I'm kind of out of touch)
Yeah, weird. If you want to see videos, go to MTV2... if you want sportscenter, you have to go to ESPNews.
Not even anymore, if you've noticed lately MTV 2 has been used to run repeats of Jackass, Wild Boys, sweet 16, high school stories and other lame reality shows.....If it wasn't for MTV ESPN would be the biggest piece of garbage television station.....

This is the pattern with evrything nowadays unfortunately. Good ideas are born, services become popular, corporations conglomerate and exploit every last shred of quality out of the product in order to make that extra dollar. You've seen it with all the major news outlets, the movies (any time a decent movie comes out now it is run into the ground with sequels and franchising) and the music industry etc. Get used to it, because in this day and age anything that becomes popular is going to be hijacked and pimped.
