Did Specter and Tomase (or their associates) bet heavy money on the Giants in SB 41? - New England Patriots Forums

As inplausible as it may sound, that scenario is not far fetched, given the well timed, incredibily late (Specter sound bites even on Sat. night and Sun. AM) damaging speculation by the duo, that combined, delivered body blows to the entire Patriots team. Certainly worth 7 points off the spread. Follow the money trail to them via NYC.?

Actually it is very far fetched. I think even the most clueless of gamblers wouldn't have bet any money on the Gmen in SB41. BECAUSE THEY WEREN'T IN IT!

Moderator: can you kill this thread? it's the kind of speculation that gives any board a bad name. Whatever awful things we think of Arlen Specter for his Comcastic, idiotic meddling in Spygate, he did not invest his entire life in his career to make a few thousand dollars (or even a few hundred thousand dollars) on a football game. when a guy like this goes "bad," it's via seven figure deposits in offshore banks through two or three blind intermediaries with the knowledge that some very unpleasant people will be looking for him if he doesn't keep up his end of the bargain. but in this case, it looks like Comcast and Blank Fine have kept the money in the public eye, where it might be ugly but it's not illegal.

If Specter is shameless enough to schill (extortion by holding NFL hostage on flimsy exemption issue) for his donation money connection through Comcast, covered by his lame Eagle's fan lament, why is my speculation any more reckless than Specter's outrageous behavior he plotted and undertook in the 48 hours preceeding SB 41?

because the one is "doing business as usual in Washington" and the other is just plain dumb; the latter (a) because he could get caught and (b) because he wouldn't score enough money to warrant the risk withou placing such a large sum that it would attract attention. Specter and his colleagues can get all the "funny money" they want the old-fashioned way, by having it wired triple blind into an offshore account that is so buried that jason bourne and jack bauer together couldn't find it.
