Default The Touchdown Replay Rule..

Personally thought it ruined the rhythm of the game, can see the necessity of it.. but the reviews seemed lengthy.

The new rule (Rule 15, Section 9) reads this way: "Replay official will initiate review of all scoring plays throughout the game. The Replay official cannot initiate a review for a team, and a team is prevented from challenging a play, if that team commits a foul that prevents the next snap."

Reiss is claiming that it is only on close plays, did not stay up for the end of the third and fourth quarters, he said the latter TD's were not reviewed.. early tee time.

Criqui and Cross indicated that all TD's would be reviewed.. but take that with a grain of salt.

Stupid rule. Why can't they have a guy in the booth review it real quick and if there's any question buzz down. No reason for the referee to run over to the booth everytime.

It seemed pretty clumsy and was pretty annoying to boot.

Personally, I'll use the time to go get another drink, use the washroom, etc, etc...

This offseason, it's almost like Belichick is saying, "I'm never going to let that happen again."

I got it wrong last night. There is a replay official in the press box (or wherever they sit) who review each TD. If he/she feels that it is questionable, he/she will instruct the ref to do a booth review.

That is basically how it is supposed to work.

So a coach can still challenge a score if the booth doesn't think it was close enough? I can see some controversy brewing.

So what they did was wrong.. it is all done from afar?? If so that is more palatible than destroying the rhythm of the game last night.

That was dumb, Gil and Gino said it was on all TD's and were railing about how clumsy and slow it was. Preseason is to work the kinks out so hopefully by game 1 its smoother.

I believe a coach can only challenge a TD if it is not called. If it is called the only one who can question it (and is instructed to if it looks at all to be) is the replay official. Theoretically that should save coaches use of a challenge on most scoring plays.
