SAMUEL SAID TO BE A “DONE DEAL” IN NEW ORLEANS
Posted by Mike Florio on February 26, 2008, 9:04 p.m.

There’s increasing chatter in league circles that the Saints have worked out a deal with cornerback Asante Samuel.

Yeah, it’s tampering. But no one seems to care about that.

Samuel supposedly is looking for a contract with an average value in excess of $10 million per year.

Well, I've been saying he wants to play for a warm weather team, so this would make sense. He makes more sense for the Saints defense than the Eagles D, as well.

Good. Now it's virtually assured he will never come back to bite our ass.

I'll have to get a Samuel Pats jersey to wear to the Superdome if this turns out to be true :-P

This would help the Saints a lot more if McKenzie were healthy and they still need major help at LB but if they sign Samuel then daft Cromartie they are set at CB for years.

Either way good luck to Asante where ever he ends up assuming it isn't the Jets, hopefully I'll remember him more for his great INTs than his dropped one in the Superbowl.

A lot of Saints fans seem to be under the impression that Asante is a cover 2 corner.

Yes this is good. He will not be in our division, conference, or geographical region so this mitigates any hard feelings. Similar situation to Nomar leaving the Red Sox and signing with the Dodgers.

I imagine he can play it.
