Default When Are Retirements Generally Announced?

I'm thinking guys like Bruschi, Junior, etc. Is there a time when one would typically announce retiring?

This is an EASY one. Usually a few days after the duck boat victory parade...........ummmh - just kidding.

Hopefully whatever they decide to do in terms of telling the media they tell Pioli before the draft so it can be incorporated.

they usually happen anywhere from the end of one's season right up to , and into, pre season

sometimes players dick around and retire after their team would have had a chance to replace them

it's lame

they usually announce it right before they retire. I know it's a really tricky practice, but that's generally how it's done.

(you are the one who told me to start drinking)

When they start thinking about how training camp would suck.

When those old bones just won't rise to the occasion for camp, it's time

Ted Johnson was a last minute deal if I recall correctly, and look what the led to.

Anyway, I imagine that BB and Piloi will have plenty of forewarning if Bru or Jr. decides to hang 'em up.

Junior Seau originally retired on August 14th.

I'm very interested to see what Marvin Harrison plans are...
