I wonder if this will get a spygate treatment. Doubtful.

Apples and Oranges, but if it's true the Niners deserve to face some punishment.

It is actually worse. Tampering charges are just much harder to prove. That is why the Branch thing went nowhere. But in this case, the 49ers admit to talking to Drew Rosenhaus about a new contract for Briggs. So instead of the team that was being tampered with trying to prove contact between the violator and agent, now the violator has to prove that they had permission to speak with the agent. I think the 49ers have a very good chance of getting punished for this.

Yes but in the drive by media, there wont be days and hrs talking about it, it just will be mentioned for 1 day and move on.. We wont be left alone till the Pats are not a franchise anymore..

Yeah, tampering is far, far worse than videotaping signals. As we saw with both the Deion Branch and Lawyer Milloy thing first hand, tampering can make it impossible for a team to keep one of their star players.

The Bears may have lost any chance they had to resign Briggs because of that tampering. The 49ers could have offered Briggs such a huge deal that the Bears had absolutely no shot to retain Briggs eventhough they have exclusive negotiating rights to him until next Friday.

If Goodell takes away a significant draft pick like a second or third rounder, it won't go away that easily especially with the 49ers already missing a first rounder. It will be a topic of conversation leading up to the draft. It can't go away that easy then.

The Niners do have the Colts first round pick.

But I don't think they will take that pick, IMO they may take the first rounder for next year. But that is just my own speculation.
