Default when did "spygate" become a rule?

Is it true that it was not against the rules to do what the Pats did until the 2006 season? If so the titles are not "tainted" because it was inside the rules.

If anyone has links backing this up, they would be greatly appreciated. I have seen this stated alot, but never a link or something that I can show the idiots.

and the tapes were not even used on gameday, so what good does it do? Can't you steal signals off tapes you break down during the week?

Folks I hate to say it, if some one broke into a practice to tape a walk through , even thought they have no use for it .. its cheating.. plain and simple... I think I read that Walsh has tapes , i dont know why all of the sudden he has them, when he could have given them back in Sept .. If he has a tape and it shows a practice , Im afraid Belichick wont be coaching the pats anymore..

I'm too lazy to look it up - but seeing as the NFL only clarified the rule about the taping of games in 2006, I can't help but wonder whether there's an actual rule prohibiting the taping of PRACTICES.

If there is I'd love to know - and if an NFL team has crappy security, I have a tough time feeling sorry for them.

or maybe it was always a rule but they did not decide to enforce it until this year, kinda like when the pats played the colts and indy cried about how the game was called, and they decided to start enforcing the rule again the next season

The simple fact is:

Videotaping is NOT illegal or a crime, it was an NFL rule that was broken.

So there is no criminal element to this investigation..just sour grapes from the media and idiots jealous of the PATS' successes....
