Aaron Hernandez finished 37th out of 38 qualifying tight ends in Pro Football Focus' drop percentage metric for the 2010 season.
The hip injury wasn't the only factor in Hernandez's lost playing time down the stretch. His nine drops on 55 catchable balls landed him in the doghouse, playing a part in his 486 snaps versus 756 for fellow rookie Rob Gronkowski. Hernandez was billed as sure-handed entering the league, so fantasy owners can expect a bounce-back in his performance going forward. He's an ideal "buy" in Dynasty leagues.

I don't trust PFF to measure anything. Not even dropped passes.
If they said TFB threw 50 TDs in 2007, I'd ask for a recount.

I remember dropped passes I woulda guessed 7 at most.
They DEEM it CATCHABLE... so I bet a few of those were tough balls, but he shoulda had it according to them.... and it gets added to the stat.
he is a ROOKIE so eff these bogus scores no love
Yeah, I'm with you on the point of emphasis there. Frankly, I couldn't care less what PFF deems catchable, because however it's defined there, it's almost guaranteed to be wrong/stupid/pointless.
Anyone who is paid to catch a ball by the Patriots had the case of the drops in 2010. It was the first time in as long as I can remember that the receivers or tight ends (not named Ben Watson) dropped easy open field and red zone passes with some regularity.
Regardless of what PFF or Stats Inc. says, Hernandez definitely dropped some passes he shouldn't have. It was definitely an issue, one that needs to be corrected. Hernandez was targeted 64 times so depending on count, it's at least 10% of passes being dropped.
