Hope everyone enjoys this holiday, is safe, and thankfull for this great country we live in....We THE PEOPLE made it what it is today...let's celebrate and get it back to being the great nation we all know it can be !

Guy Fawkes Day is probably UK's celebration day with Fireworks and bonfires.

I would have chosen Trafalgar Day myself as they probably would be speaking French had Nelson not defeated them in the Battle of Trafalgar

235 Years and 2 days ago ~ on July 2nd, 1776 ~ 12 Colonies ~ not 13 ~ voted to Declare a War of Independence against the most powerfull State in the World, announcing it two days later, on July 4th, 1776.

THAT....took BALLS.

* Indeed, so deeply and dominantly is our character ingrained in this nation that we Yankees led to Freedom...that our very name ~ Yankees ~ has come to be applied ~ incorrectly ~ to any American, by those foreign to our land.

But "Yankee" has always meant ~ and will always mean ~ only one thing:

A native of New England, home of the greatest Patriots of the Greatest War of Independence.

No more.

No less.

And it sure as hell doesn't apply to anyone affiliated with New York...

...The only one of the 13 Colonies that did NOT vote for Independence, that historic day!!

I hope I'm not coming across as an Hater.

My point is not to bag on New York, but to celebrate New England's astonishing heritage.

Independence Day means a lot to every true American, including the descendants of the courageous foot soldiers of New York who fought and died in that Great War.

But it means far more to New England, and to its Yankee Patriots, even though most have forgotten what that means.

In fact, the original Yankees refereed to the entire Northeast, New England AND New York. Latter the term was expanded to refer to all of the North in the Civil war and by World War I meant the entire of the US.

Joke....

A Bostonian traveling thru Georgia wearing a Red Sox hat stops at a gas station where several men much larger than him notice that hat and declare, "I hate the god damn effing Yankees"

The Bostonian didn't know if his life was in danger or if he had met new friends.
