It makes me sad that Reiss works for a Mickey Mouse outfit.

I've seen 1-15 and 2-14 twice. I've seen the Patriots as relevant underdogs, hated favorites, and absolutely irrelevant. Hated is not the best, but it far, far, far from the worst.
How was Irving Fryar even discussed other than in the context that he will never get into the Patriots HOF. The guy was somewhat of a bust and major headcase for the Pats. He didn't get good until he got traded to the Fins. I think the knife his wife used to cut him right before the AFC title game in 1986 or the car he crashed while the game was going on after he got tossed are more deserving to go into the Hall. He will be remembered more in these parts for his many off the field incidents (the two I mentioned along with him threating people with a gun outside a Providence nightclub and him supposably getting shot at himself in a robbery attempt at Downtown Crossing) than anything he had done on the field for the Patriots.
Didn't like the way he left, but Parcells resurrected this franchise and is the reason why Kraft bought the team and saved it from being shipped to St. Louis. Prior to Parcells, there were 15,000 people in the stands. Parcells brought the sell outs which made Kraft realize that it was good business to buy the team for (at the time) was a ridiculous amount of money.
Without Parcells, this team would be the St. Louis Budweisers or something like that.

All of that stuff would get him into the hall, but the way he left keeps him out.
I agree with you.. However, without Parcells, there is no Bledsoe and no Belichick. Just food for thought.
Well, yes and no.
Even if Parcells was not in place hopefully whoever else was here would take Bledsoe over Mirer; maybe not, who knows.
On the other hand Bledsoe in the hands of another coaching staff may have ended up with a career that more closely resembled Mirer's.
A blast from the past on the comparison back then. Interesting to see the other topics of that time: "McMahon May Have Locked Up Viking QB Starting Spot", Tagliabue Harpoons Mirer's Contract", "Pats Sign Bledsoe for $14.88 Million", and "Torretta Not Considered Top Prospect".
To me Bledsoe is a lock; he's in the Pats HoF.
In my opinion if there is a debate, it's over Curtis Martin. He was great with the Pats and had a great NFL career, but is three years enough to get you in a team's HoF? Martin does rank 4th all-time in career rushing yardage with the Pats. Same question holds for Corey Dillon, who was also a Patriot for only three years - but is third in franchise history for rushing touchdowns.
It's unfortunate for guys like Houston Antwine and Jon Morris that they did not get in earlier. They're nominations are fighting a double-edged sword: every year that passes the memory of them grows dimmer, plus with each passing year they are up against younger players such as Bledsoe, Francis and Martin that fans and the media have a much better memory of watching and having seen them play.
