Good for Tom, hopefully this can get sorted out before a lawsuit is needed, but looks the NFLPA has the right players on board if need be.

Hmmmm, three white QBs to put a 'face' on a labour dispute. Must've just worked out that way ...... not to be cynical or anything. The lawyers and Ad men have this fully under control at this point.

Think it just worked out that way. They way they're looking at this is those 3 are the most powerful men and respected me the league has to offer. Remember, in 1987 when they sued the league, Reggie White was the players lead plaintiff. He was widely considered the most respected player at that time.

The Mankins part of this is the "flip" side of a player, who's been very high at his position, yet doesn't get paid like one because of the "system" in place. That's why he has been asked to be a part of this as well.

The Mankins part cracks me up. He's been screwed by the system his union collectively bargained for because at the time they didn't give a rats ass about him, they wanted 60% of Total Revenue...LOL Just like he's being screwed again this year via the franchise tag that was agreed to back in 1993 and withstood court challenge and even passed muster with Judge Doty and the union has yet to offer to swap a nickel for the elimination of because less than a dozen poor players fall victim to being paid top 5 salaries or 120% of what they were being paid if that is more as a result every season.

Peyton was a great choice too. Only been the highest paid player in the league for his entire career... Oh the humanity. I guess Mike Vick and JaMarcus Russell and Matt Leinart and Albert Haynesworth didn't fit the profile...

When Reggie White was the plaintiff he was fighting for Free Agency at a time when none existed and teams could tell players to take it or leave it and it meant leave the game. These guys have all benefitted from the settlement of that case, as has their union which promptly recertified once a jury did their negotiating for them. More unions should try this approach and see how long it remains an option... The issue a jury would be actually asked to decide this time out if it ever got that far, and it won't, is whether or not this employer has to pay it's employees whatever they demand.

Hard to sympathize with either side. It's a game. 16, 20, 23 episodes a season. It's a very good show, but that's all it is.

The owners are walking away from the CBA, so it makes sense that those who have benefited most and have the most to lose would be plaintifs. In that regard, these guys fit the bill.

I think, though, a better choice would have been emerging stars who will be harmed if the CBA goes away. Unfortunately, I can't think of one who would win my support in a labor dispute.

I also do not react positively to arguments that football players put their lives on the line everyday. It's a dangerous sport and there are long term consequences to the lifestyle, but there are a lot of people (tens of millions) facing more risk for less pay every day.

PS if the solution is to raise prices for everything from seats to jerseys, that's fine, but PLEASE stop complaining about the passionless suits in the stadium. If you want passionate people in the seats, lower ticket prices and make people wait at the stadium to buy them.

The only insight your post gives anyone is insight into your "character". The 3QBs who are currently considered the best in the league were chosen. Since QBs are usually the faces of their teams, if you can get the top 3 on board, it's a no-brainer. Hopefully you will become part of the solution some day.

I'm curious as to the correlation between those you mentioned. Mike vick came off his best statistical season as a pro. Russel no longer in football. Leinert a back-up and haynesworth to big to fail in D.C right now. Even when Vick played for the falcons they weren't paying him to win championships seemed like they cared more about putting asses in the seats. The same for any franchise that drafts cam newton.
