This is true. The Steelers are the worst fans in the NFL (besides the Jets.) They simply can never accept defeat.
The two "Spygate" games they always bring up are the AFCCG in '01 in '04. Those games were thrown away by Big Ben and Kordell Stewart, as the Patriots offense simply capitalized on terrible quarterbacking play.
I'll never forget when Bill Cowher dismissed Spygate as completely overblown and stated that there was no way the Patriots had an advantage in any game against the Steelers. How did their fans react? Attacked Cowher, calling him a "traitor" while still crying about their losses to the Patriots.
The Steelers have had their share of issues with domestic violence from their players, a should-have-been HGH scandal a few years ago, and the obvious steroid scandal from the 1970s. Yet their fans seem to think their organization is above everything.
That was quite a Super Bowl a few years ago when the ref admitted that he was a Steelers fan and handed them a win over Seattle. And the Patriots don't deserve their Lombardi trophies?
I really hope they lose on the big stage. Their fans think the Steelers are everything that is right about sports. Everyone on the outside sees a big, stinking pile of hypocrisy.

Couple of rabid fan bases, for sure.
The crap should be flying.
I would give the edge to GB as far as patting themselves on the back.
"We are the best".
It is cool that the relatively small town supports an NFL team.
Meanwhile, LA goes begging.
Both teams have a lot of knowledgeable fans,
but the whole Brett Favre thing spun out of control for a while.
Now they buy T-Shirts to show they hate the guy.
At one time, they would have built a statue to him.
Shame really.
Steeler fans are like meatheads.
Meat Packers ironically bring the cheese.
Could make for a nice big sandwich.
Or a riot of epic proportions.
maybe, riot, then everyone can take a break for a god***m snack.

I'm rooting against the Steelers in the super bowl. But not because of some jealous, spiteful, hatred of a rival team and organization. Because if I'm honest with myself, I have allot of respect for how that organization is run, and respect most players on that team.
No, I'm rooting against them because from my experiance, a large majority of at least there most vocal fans, don't deserve the success there team provides for them.
I generally like Steelers fans. They are very passionate and most seem to know their football. Packers, Bears and Giants fans are decent too. Green Beans and Chargers fans are by far the worst of all; Eagles fans aren't much above them.

If it weren't for the annoying fan base and Rapistberger/James Harrison beating up females, the Steelers would be a very likeable franchise. They build great blue collar teams through the draft and no big money free agency. It's too bad their fans are so bitter toward us owning them. But it also makes you feel good when fans of a franchise with 6 rings have such an inferiority complex towards us with their constant shots at Brady/BB and Bernard Pollard fan club Tshirts.

With all due respect to the article's author, he makes a silly argument.
ALL fanbases have their fair share of idiots and arrogant blockheads, trash talking trolls, know-nothing bandwagon fans, "my team can do no wrong"-type homers, and sky-is-falling doomsayers on Mondays after a loss. Our fanbase is no different, and in fact because we have a ton of fans, we probably have a lot of these types. That's just the law of averages. But if that's true, it's also true that we have a ton of extremely knowledgeable, objective, courteous, and lifetime, live-and-die-with-the-Steelers type of fans.
You could visit any team's board, cherry-pick the "offensive" posts and ignore the objective ones, and come away with the conclusion that it's an unknowledgeable, arrogant fanbase. (This is an amusingly common practice on EVERY board in fact: to go to another fan's board and pull out an extreme post, so you can say, "look how stupid/arrogant/annoying the XXXXX fans are!") And because a large percentage of posters on rival teams' message boards are there for trolling (again, this is unfortunately true of EVERY fan base), of course you'll get a negative view of the fanbase.
The irony of course is that members of other fanbases may hold the same view (citing identical reasons) of the Patriots fanbase. And they're equally incorrect.

Individual fan bases do have general tendencies, however. I happen to think Steelers fans are a good bunch, at least from my experience. Same with Packers, Bears and Giants fans. Green Beans fans and Chargers fans, however, are consistently awful as a group. Patriots fans are amazingly respectful (at Gillette Stadium at least), I believe largely because getting out of hand puts your season tickets at risk.

Why are you writing an article smearing steelers fans? Their franchise has won like 5 or 6 championships. I think they have some bragging rights there. On the other hand look at Jets fans. The last time their team won it most of us weren't even alive. There's nothing to brag about there but they are more loud mouthed and obnoxious than most fans I've ever seen. And their coach and players just feed into it.
