Default Patriots Offseason Objectives

I searched and didn't see this posted anywhere, this article is great! I really think someone needs to print it out and just tape it right onto BB's desk. lol The only part of the article I don't agree with is the OchoCinco part, there was a time, but that time is gone. If anything see if Randy Moss is available, hopefully him and Tom can rekindle that magic. Why bring in another "BIG TIME" WR, when they can just as easily go get the one that connected so well with Brady. Anyway here is the article

Time and time again see the need for a Pass Rushing OLB.. but if there is a very good "trench guy", particularly an O lineman would consider that first.. never can have enough of these guys.

Also think that if a McCourty clone is available at 17 that may be a consideration.. from my view BB devalues sacks, and highly values turnovers .. sources like Cold Hard Football Facts who compile these types of statistics bear this out.

But picking @ 17, 28, 33 and 56 will provide for an interesting couple of days.. do not see them picking in that order, but another great opportunity to pick up some very good players.

This is really well done.

I think that Howe failed to recognize the need for a RG. He also failed to note the need to develop a safety for 2012 when we are likely see reduced production from Sanders or Meriweather.

And yes, Brady would do better with the addition of Ochocinco.

They need a few difference makers and one of them should either be a DE or an OLB. They need to pressure the QBs that would make their back seven much better. Besides Belichik I believe the owners need to answer some questions and like the Red Sox did this year open up the wallets and add a few 4 or 5 year vets who can really help the team. The team can't be totally built through the draft so lets stop acting like we are the Buffalo Bills.

Isn't there a big safety on IR that BB grabbed in FA ? (Barrett)

Sure, we have Barrett, Lockett, and Brown. We might sign Page or McGowan.

When we wanted a 3rd "starter" for the rotation, we used #33 for Chung. before that, we used a 1st on Meriweather. james Sanders was a 4th.

So, if we are looking for a potential starter in 2012, or at least a player who will get 50% of the defensive reps in 2012, I would think that we should plan to use one of our first four picks. I understand that none of 5 rated in the first 75 may be what Belichick wants in a safety.

Ochocinco is a washed up WR much like T.O....no way do we need another late career Randy Moss on this team.

I don't care that Ocho is a funny, nice and respectable guy...he has never come up big in big games and no longer brings much to the table.

Possibly the most overrated WR of all time

If Brady wants Ocho, hopefully it would be to hang out with and go to a club...not as his WR

Wink Re: Patriots Offseason Objectives

Yup. he'd be a failure just like Moss was a failure.

Moss was great for one season with Brady and a decoy for one and a 1/4 seasons and came up invisible in the playoffs even in his record breaking season...I'll pass on Ocho, thank you.

We need a WR that steps up when the playoffs come...not go into hibernation.

I guess you missed Ocho against the Jets last season and against the Steelers a few years ago in the playoffs.
