Default Dez Bryant on the blocks? ESPN speculates Pats may be interested

Just read these on the espn rumors. What do you guys think?

Dez Bryant's rookie season had a little of everything -- highlight reel touchdowns, injuries, and missed meetings. ESPNDallas.com's Calvin Watkins says for all Bryant's talent, his work ethic leaves a lot to be desired. When Watkins asked a member of the Cowboys office if they would trade Bryant for a first-round pick, the surprising answer was that the Cowboys "would think about it."

Who would be interested in picking up Bryant? This is purely speculation, but a pair of AFC playoff teams went one-and-done in the postseaon, in part because they got little out of their wideouts. Bryant would make sense with either Kansas City or New England. The Chiefs don't pick until 21, which may be too late for the Cowboys. The Patriots, though, have both the 17th and 28th picks, plus two more in the second and two more in the third. If they want Bryant, they should have little trouble putting a package together to get him.

Bill already got rid of Adalius Thomas, Shawn Springs, Chris Baker, Randy Moss, etc. No point in bring in another headache.

Why would they go for Bryant now when only last draft they had like 3 chances to get him in the first and second round only to trade down?

actually he was taken with the 24th pick by the cowboys. the patriots traded that pick to the cowboys. my guess is that they did want him but they wanted him at 27 and pick up mccourty in the early 2nd round. I would've thought that the cowboys wouldn't have drafted another WR.

No. They just didn't want him. And for good reason, too.

Belichick said in the war room that Dallas was going to take Bryant. He's well aware of what the other teams were going to do. Its clear he didn't want him.

Nope. Too much baggage and this team doesn't have the vets that can keep him in line.

They had a few chances to take him last year, and he's since validated the concerns that they presumably had that kept them from drafting him in the first place.

Looks like Garrett might be installing a new culture over in Dallas, though. Interesting; I have a hard time believing that Jerry Jones would sign off on such a trade.

In addition to what Keyser said, they also knew that McCourty wouldn't make it to the early 2nd round. It was widely known that the Jets would take him if he was available, and even if the Jets hadn't taken him, the Saints probably would have.
