Default Great Read: "The Patriots are great. Deal with it."

Thought this was a good reflection of the patriots season.
Give him credit; this guy called the perfect season after the chargers game.

Thanks for posting it. Nice read. Very well written, especially the observation on Mercury Morris.

" the surviving members of the undefeated 1972 Miami Dolphins, who decided years ago to break the world record for being publicly grumpy old farts, a mark previously held jointly by the McLaughlin Group and any show Louis Rukeyser hosted alone. Bob Kuechenberg's opinion has been almost universally unsought for more than three decades, and the last person who truly cared what Mercury Morris said about anything was a judge. "

Sometimes I don't like Charlie, but he can really write.

Yeah, how about that link? I've assumed Morris was on coke, but I never realized he (allegedly) dealt the stuff 25 years ago.

edit: nice first post, btw!

"The league had been knuckled by some suddenly lifelike Democratic congresscritters into making the game generally available on television, instead of restricting it to the NFL Network, as was originally planned. Keeping a completely straight face, and listening intently to hear a c0ck crow, Goodell said that the decision was all about "the fans," and that it had nothing to do with the ongoing wrangle between the league and America's cable-television providers. Goodell then handed us off to what amounted to a five-hour infomercial for the NFL Network. (Poor Bryant Gumbel was lucky he wasn't wearing decals, like a stock car.) This is the ethical context in which Belichick and the Patriots got caught cheating. Forgive me if my outrage died some time before Thanksgiving".

Hahahahahaha, funny stuff. Great read

Very witty stuff, but his idea of the FO is a little off-base.

It's not the case (thank God!) that any team could have had Moss. He wanted the Patriots, and we wanted him. Yes, any team that got him could have got the "discount" from the 10M due from the Raiders. But we had right of first refusal, if Moss is to be believed.

It's not the case that any team could have seen the value of Wes Welker. People scratched their heads when we gave up a 2 and a 5 for him.

But that's picking nits; obviously this guy is approaching the very broad brush feel of this season, and he did a good job.

The Moss thing is true (Moss said he only wanted to come here) but I think what he meant re: Welker is that any team could have seen the value, but they don't have the smart FO we do, so they didn't. But Welker's performances were out there for all to see....we were the ones who were smart enough to go out and do what it took to get him.

I promised myself never to use or talk about the S word (Spygate), but what he said about it was pretty funny.
