Default Gumbel/Collinsworth last night...?

I thought they were pretty good... reasonably well-informed... not biased one way or the other. Comments?

I thought it was tolerable, I really don't like either one of them, but Collingsworth was at least calling the game fairly with some actual football insight, however Gumbel has no right calling NFL games, he's mostly unprepared and is a walking cliche,
"appears to have the first down" the guy just ran for 15 yds, "again they will turn it over on downs" the team is punting. ETC,
I wish I could listen to Gil and Gino, but it's like a 5-10 second delay between the tv broadcast and the radio

How could you consider them reasonably well informed when Gumball announced that Moss and Brady had BROKEN (not tied) the receiving and passing records on the 1st TD?

Collinsworth and Gumball both got names wrong, REPEATEDLY.

And their banter was worthless and brought nothing to the game.

Sorry, but they were horrendous.

It was my first time listening to them call a game as I don't have NFLN. I'll echo what has been said about Gumbel - way too many cliches and his annoying "appears to have the first down" almost made me throw the remote through the TV....MANY times.

Unlike others, I don't mind Collinsworth - although I did note a few gaffes.

I've listened to several games on NFLN this season, and while Gumble said his "appear to have the first down" / "would seem to have the first down" it would seem and appeared that he did not say it as much last night as much as he has said it in prior broadcasts.

on the patriots first play from scrimage gumble blurts out "the patriots are coming back onto the field for the first time".... what a dork. as far as the play by play went, i thought the crowd noise was able to cover up those 2 baffoons very nicely.

"It would appear to be"

"And just like that", after every damned play, "and just like that" in his kermit the frogesque voice..

My daughter in law, who doesn't watch much football at all said 'why do they let Bryant Gumbel do football?' Collinsworth is fine, played a lot of years as a pro, knows the game, is intelligent. Gumbel is just not qualified.

Gumbel is the worst play by play announcer I ever heard. He is so bad. Collinsworth is good, but Gumbel is lame.
