It goes without saying, but only confirms that Bill Belichick knows every facet of football, knows what it takes to win, and that while every year's team is different from the last, he makes the proper adjustments to utilize his team's strengths and hide his weaknesses as much as possible, better than any other coach does, year after year.

Another is his adjustments the second time we play a team in a season.
There are others. But, look at some of these previous matchups.
01 - Lost at home to Rams in reg. season. Warner threw for about 400 yds and we tried to blitz something like 38 straight plays. In Super Bowl, he attacked Warner's top weapon M.Faulk. Result Pats win.
03 - Almost blew huge lead vs Colts at Indy. Took goal-line stand in last seconds to close the deal. Shut down Manning and their passing game in playoff game 24-14. Took deep pass away and forced them to throw underneath.
04 - We beat Colts by a FG. Vanderjagt missed a tying FG at gun. Or, would have been OT. Stomped the Colts 23-3 even with a depleted secondary. Pats just wanted that game more. Not so much as a case of strategy.
06 - Lost to Colts at home in reg. season pretty convincingly. Came within a converted first down of being able to run the clock out and beat them at Indy. Changed cb matchup. Put Asante on M.Harrison and Hobbs on Wayne. Each played better.
07 - Scored 2 late td's to comeback and edge Colts 24-20 in Indy. Next time.
Offense will do a better job of pass protection. Won't force the ball downfield as much as in the past. Colts focus on Moss/Welker enables Stallworth, Gaffney and Watson to torch them. Defense will play the run tougher. Seymour is healthier. Allows nickel package to focus on pass defense and keep Manning from having a great game. He'll probably have a good game. Just not good enough. Especially, if Pats get the lead and force them to obvious pass situations.

I hope you're right about that. Another thing that will help us is if Maroney can become more involved. He still seemed to be holding back for most of the season, but against the Dolphins last week, he displayed a bit more power in his step.

No matter what the year, under BB, the Pats play has improved as the year goes on. I remember his first year here you could tell the team was getting better every week.
This year was weird in that respect, yes, we won all the games, but we started out like gangbusters, then had a series of close calls.
I think the same thought can be applied to Parcells also.

Nice analysis.......As you point out, win or lose, we do play teams better the second time around. Colts II, in my opinion will not be very close, we win going away by the 3rd quarter having torched their defensive backfield with our 5 wides followed by a healthy dose of ball control with Maroney, Faulk & short passing game. Our "D" seemingly has returned to a stingy, swarming group peaking at just the right time. They were not playing at that level in Indy, although holding them to 20 was not too shabby.
AFCCG will be a Patriot rout to the tune of about 38-10. But, that is getting way ahead of ourselves now isn't it?
One game at a time and today looks to be a really fun time for all Patriot fans, everywhere.

they should note that the data just cover his years with the Patriots, but the stat is remarkable nonetheless.
