Default Reiss on the McCourty personal foul

Mike Reiss wrote that he was watching the refs confer (about a minute after the play) on the McCourty hit of Quarless that lead to the first touchdown, and he saw the refs looking at the replay on the jumbotron. No flag was thrown on that play until after they took a look at the jumbotron.

Someone needs to clarify from the league office whether this is proper procedure or not.

Proper procedure in Foxboro should be NOT TO SHOW STUFF LIKE THAT ON THE DAMNED JUMBOTRON!

Sound about right. Collinsworth was saying he didn't see it until they played it on slow motion, guess the refs didn't either.

If you're not sure it was a personal foul or not, it wasn't. This ain't hard.

To Roger Goodell it's a foul because there was contact between both helmets. This crap is getting out of hand and they need to change this rule so no penalties are called on such hits.

I don't think there was ever helmet-to-helmet contact. If I remember correctly, McCourty's shoulder pad hit the bottom of the face guard. I could be wrong.

If a single molecule of a defender's helmet interacts with a single molecule of an offensive player's helmet, it's helmet-to-helmet and it's 15 yards.

Welcome to the NFL in 2010.

The rules don't say anything about it, so I don't see a problem with them doing it.

What I don't like is them holding up play waiting for something to be shown, and the home team actually showing it.
