Default OT: DirecTV

How could it be possible from receiving a picture all day and then tonight I lose all reception with my tv's now saying searching for satellite signal 771 without touching anything? Is there anything I could do to resolve this or does a dish tv guy have to come out to my house?

I appreciate any help.

TIA

It is just lightly snowing but I didn't have any probs with dish when it snowed during the storm last week when it was coming down an inch an hour. So try rebooting?

Ok I did that. Now box is still searching for a signal. Is this normal?

Joker is right....if you don't want to mess with the card, or cannot find it - simply reboot by unplugging the box from the wall for a full minute.

Let us know if it worked.

yeah...reboot...if it doesn't, call tech support FIRST to see if they can resolve it from their end...last resort is a visit from a tech...if you have a new three receptor dish it could be clogged with snow...if it is, try removing the snow gently with a brush if you can reach the dish

heh...yeah...unless you have a sturdy ladder...look at this picture..

http://www.thesatelliteshop.net/images/2DTV32DDTUBE.jpg

that is an LNB affixed to the front of your dish...there may be multiple LNB's...in any case, if these have snow on them it will knock your reception out...if you see snow on them remove it with a brush or something soft. If the LNB's are clear then you have to check all your connections INSIDE at your box and TV to make sure nothing is loose. Worst case scenario is the box ***** the bed, in which case you should be able to resolve this issue over the phone and have them send a tech out with a new box.

Is the three receptor thing that looks like a microphone? If so I can't see that but the dish has a lite coating of snow on the bottom of it. I can;t see the receptor if it the mic looking thing.

I can't clean it cause it's on the roof. I was told a guy can't get out to the house until Monday. Is the a way this could resolve itself before then? I don't want to miss the f'ing game on sunday on my 52" TV.

By the way does this happen often with dishes. I've only had mine 6 months and this is the 1st time happening. Please let me know.
