The proof is on the field, and five 12 win seasons is a great achievement in this salary cap era. That they have achieved this at the same time as being the 2nd best team for the period makes this achievment even more impressive. And the patriots have two SB appearances in the same peiod.

This is a statistical oddity more than a "record". The 5 years runs of numerous other teams are more significant than that of the Colts. The 49ers from 89-93 won just as many games, but 14 games 3 times. The Cowboys from 91-95 won 2 fewer regular season games, but 11 playoff games and 3 titles. The 84-89 Bears won just as many games, despite a strike season. The 81-85 Dolphins would have won just as many games, but only played a 9 game season in 82. This isn't even mentioning the pre-1978 runs of the Dolphins, Steelers, Cowboys, Rams, Raiders, Vikings, all of whom played 14 games seasons. This regular season "accomplishment" is nothing remarkable, and is typical of blowhard Polian's chest beating.
