Last week was just an off game on the coverages.

This week the linemen were being held and tackled.

Why do you think the Patriots are complaining about the refereeing? Why is Vrabel chewing out a ref in the tunnel? They were being held. I've seen this in college football before where an upset is sprung because suddenly the refs put away the flags. You can run for hundreds of yards if you're allowed to tackled the D-linemen and then give crackback blocks to the safeties and CBs. 3 linebackers against 5 offensive lineman? Advantage: offense.

I think they have lost focus. When they have needed to step up, they have. They forced a couple of three and outs late in the game last night to keep the team in it.

that being said, I don't think our D "flies to the ball". You hear that phrase thrown around about some defenses (hard to believe the colts have this now) but I don't feel the pats are that kind of D. During a couple of runs, I noticed the lineman and linebackers "watching" the play after McGahee was past them. I say, don't stop playing even if your not in the play anymore.

The linebackers are growing old before our eyes. The best D we have from here on out is Brady. We had better score a lot more points from here on out. We can't seem to stop the rush at all.

I agree. There was so much holding in this game the Ravens should have
had 200+ yds of penalties. It was so blatant. Both their Offense and
Defense were holding all game.

patriots run D hasnt been good all yr. We have allowed 80 odd rushing yards per game before the bye but 4.4 ypc. Its just we got up on teams so much that they couldnt run the ball. In close games it gets exposed a bit more.

Rodney Harrison is saving this defense - he continues to step up and make big plays when needed. I also don't know if it was a bad camera angle, but Adalius Thomas seemed to show a real lack of effort on the Ravens's 1st TD pass, and Rodney called him out on it. He waved half-heartedly at it - he could have knocked it down if he got off the ground a few inches.

I think the LB corp is getting old.
