What will an "eff you" shellacking of the hapless Jets say? Hey, if you catch someone breaking the rules, keep it to yourself, or you're going down?
That's a nice, chilly message to send to the rest of the league. I'm sure you'll all support it the next time another team breaks the rules to gain advantage against your team, as well. I'm sure you'll want everyone to keep quiet about it.

It speaks volumes to me as a fan.
It must be excruciating to be a Jets fan. You go since the modern league was formed and never, ever, not once get back to a SB. Then you grab The Tuner from NE where he'd gotten the Pats to their 2nd SB. Lookin good. But then Vinnie pops an ankle and the faux hopes are flushed down the tubes. Not only does The Tuner abandon the Jets without having brought them to the promised land but his assistant bolts for NE where he gets to and wins not one but 3 Super Bowls. Then the demented Jets braintrust steals what they believe to be Belichick's heir apparent. Things look good for a while. Rookie coach vigor and a big W against the Pats where the players out played the Pats and the neophyte coach outcoached his mentor. But the sunshine was short lived as the mentor and his team kicked Jet ass in the playoffs. In spite, Eric 'The Rat' who knows BB's techniques whiningly complains about the Pats rule violation with the camera in a vain attempt to distract the NY media from his coaching failures. It seemingly works for a couple weeks as the rookie 'Tough Guy' Comissioner over reacts and the NY centric media tears away at the Pats like a pack of dogs seeing a window of opportunity to take down the Alpha dog. But what happens? The Pats emerge stronger, more focused and on a mission from Hell to wreak havoc and destroy those who tried to tear them down. Payback's a b!tch, ain't it?

Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.
This is known as "bad luck." RAH

Has he ever claimed to be anything BUT a homer??
that's what's nice about Bill Simmons, he is a homer and he doesn't hide it, it sure beats the so called experts who try to look objective when in fact they are as biased as it comes.

Just remember, Oot, Mangini was on the Patriots staff for a number of years, he got his start with Belichick and wouldn't be a HC without BB's influence and support.
I'm not going to debate the whole 'Mangini is a rat' thing because it's like beating a dead horse, digging up it's carcass and taking a sledgehammer to it. If you don't understand the dynamics at play in this situation then maybe you shouldn't be commenting.

None of the seeding has been set and none of the division championships (save one) have been awarded. His scenario is far-fetched, but if the Steelers lose three games, the Colts lose two, Browns win 4 of 5, and the Chargers and Jags win out, seeding would be as such:
Yeah, I know. Sorry if I wasn't clear. In Simmons' article he mentioned Indy as the #5 seed playing the #6 seed in the first round (if JAX wins division) and I was pointing out that can;t happen as wild cards don't meet in first round. sorry for the confusion..
"I have to admit, I'm already looking ahead to the Steelers and Jets. What if the Pats left Chris Hanson inactive for the Jets game and played without a punter? Wouldn't that be the ultimate slap in the face? Know this going in, Mangini ... we're not punting. Can you think of a better psychological ploy? It's one thing to go 19-0; it's another thing to be the team that intentionally scratched their punter before a game for the first-ever Eff You Transaction. Now I know what I want for Christmas."
LMAO!!! (10 char)

I still don't think the Brown/Colts would meet in round 1, but if Pittsburgh loses to both the Pats and Jags, and the Browns win out, the Browns would win the division.
