I'll give him an elite QB in the league in the last decade. Or at least for about three years or so. But he hasn't been top 5 since 1998, until this year. And we saw this year's Favre exposed as a fraud against the Packers' first true test last night.

I agree with most of this, but I'll add that the ability to stay healthy and productive is a skill in itself. he's been very good at this.

I probably quibble with your definition of "elite" though. to me "elite" is top 5ish. from 6-12 or so is "good/above average". 13-22 is "average", and past there below average and real bad

Sometimes too good. I think playing through pain was one of the things that killed his game, at times. Throwing a football with a hairline fracture in your wrist like he did for about two years straight? Yeah, the fortitude of mind is remarkable, but it had to take something off his game.

As for the second part, I think you simply misunderstood me. The poster above said he had been elite for the "past two decades." He certainly hasn't been elite this past decade, so it had to have been in the last one. It was a confusing part to my post. Wish I had clarified that. I certainly don't believe Favre has been an elite QB over the past decade; nor do I think he was for much more than a few years.

You guys are nuts. Favre isnt overrated, his numbers speak for themselves. YOu dont hold every passing record by being a mediocre QB who was just good at not getting hurt.

Everyone acts like there can only be one good QB in the league.

A fraud??? Give me a break. Was Marino a fraud because he couldnt win the Superbowl? Was Unitis a fraud because he lost to Namath? Was Brady a fraud last year because Manning beat him?

rodney's not hanging his hat on an artificially induced consecutive games streak.

I'm not sure what that means.

anyways, as a fan of a team you want your best players on the field as much as possible. Favre has been the best QB in Green Bay since the mid 90's or whatever, and he has played a lot and he deserves a lot of credit for that.

ditto for Peyton and Brady. look at how often most QB's go down.

be thankful thats yours is healthy and has a seeming knack to avoid bad injuries (some luck, some skill)
