Fair enough. Hopefully a rotation of Vrabel-AD-Seau-Bruschi-Woods will suffice, b/c I agree Alexander's play in the AFCCG was not promising.

Only because you say so.

Point is, One spot was up for grabs, and all the choices were limited players - chances are Alexander would've held on to his spot given his experience in the system.

Obviously, this offseason is different. It's time for Seau and Bruschi to retire or take more limited roles. Colvin may be gone. This year, we will have the roster spots to add young FA LB's or draft LB's.
I'll take my chance with a rookie linebacker over the likes of Chad Brown anyday of the week.

I guess we collectively think Simeon Rice is done? Can he really be worse than Chad Brown? Does "knowing the system" really matter that much if you're getting run over like an armadillo on the highway?

I am not as down on Brown as most. In essence he is our 8th LB and provides depth (not necessarily quality depth) but depth at both LB spots. Don't forget he was tagged with Dick Butkus Beisel.

Vrabel, Thomas, Bruschi, Seau, Woods, Alexander, Colvin

With Colvin out he is our 7th option, there are worse 7th LBs in the league, I think...

The real concern comes if another injury occurs, at that point the LBs get really thin.

I think you just said you're not worried about Brown -- as long as he doesn't play.
