I know Seymour has missed alot of time getting ready for the season, so please don't jump all over me for bringing this up, but when is he going to start playing like a Pro Bowl player? Heck, when is he going to play like a decent player?
Couldn't agree more!! Personally I think Big Sey is overrated and hasn't played like a Pro-bowler in at least a couple of years. He was quite mediocre last season too. Can't help but think since he gotten the big $$ he's taken the pedal off the metal.
Jesus, give the guy a break. He just got off a very difficult recovery from surgery, which from what I understand had complications. He is not in game shape on top of it. To expect immediate production from the guy like he was healthy and started training camp is ridiculous. The fact that BB is playing him says a lot more to me than the opinions of these posters.
Wow. Once again, somebody brings up a valid point and gets called a wannabe coach. Were we wrong when we questioned why the hell we brought in Monty Beisel and Chad Brown? Were we wrong when we thought Bethel Johnson was a BUST?
You joined this site after all of those guys were gone.
quote"If he wasn't doing his job Belichek would bench him. BB doesn't give two ****s about a player's rep he only cares about results. So as long as he is starting one must think Belichek is OK with that."
I agree with you on this. BB would not let this happen

Seymour would be getting a break from me this season if we hadn't seen a mediocre non-impact year from him last season.
What I find curious is that you presented a case built only upon tackles and sacks, and ignored everything else. What if he is being asked to hold the point of attack to make something open up for the LBs? What if he's being double teamed? What if a lot of stuff that don't translate to sacks or tackles?
What if that was the point of a 3-4 defense?
I do believe in the 3-4 defense you should see the LBs and safeties making most of the tackles and sacks. Since when does a NT or tackle make a bunch of sacks. Send him as a DE man up and he'll probably get you your sacks.
But if the coach says don't do that, I say don't do that. I believe the coach knows what he's doing. Don't you?
I hear ya. I've addressed that already. Several of us have. I'm NOT just talking about stats. Stats tell you something, not doubt. Watch the games. Watch him play. It's not that hard to see that he's not playing to the level that he was.
Stop making excuses for the guy.
He played in the same defense in 2003. He only started 14 games, and was double teamed like crazy. He had 57 tackles, 8 sacks, 8 passes defensed, and.......well, didn't you see him play? Did you see him last year and this, so far? He's playing in the same defense. Teams don't double team him as much. He's not playing at the same level.
The stats help us make year to year comparisons, but watch the games.
Did you see rookie OT Marcus McNeil eat Seymours lunch in the playoffs last year against SD? No double team help. The same Marcus McNeil that looked like a revolving door in the Colts game.
He still may dominate as the year moves on, but please don't say the "best DE in the NFL" isn't producing because of what's expected of him on D. He use to produce and dominate in the SAME DEFENSE.

Somebody must have claimed him on waivers from the indystar message board.

The End of the Chad Ochostinko Era!
Seymour is a fraud.
Warren is a disappointment.
Wilfork disappears (which is quite an accomplishment for him).
Thomas is overrated.
Rodney is too old and slow.
Hobbs is toast.
Bruschi has nothing left.
Seau is ancient.
Colvin wasn't making enough of an impact (except now that he is on IR, he was obviously indispensible).
Pats are #3 in total defense (#5 in points allowed).
Pats have played the #2, #4, #5, #6, #9 and #13 offenses.
Green, Vrabel, Sanders and Samuel must be GODS to be carrying this bunch. Being able to cover for almost the entire front 7 and half the secondary...truly an amazing feat.
Finally, the real "Patriot Way" has been revealed. It isn't about working together to produce team success. Players are measured by documented, quantitative individual contributions, despite any team success that might occur simply by happenstance.
