Troy Brown decision day tomorrow- Should he make it? Who to cut?
In my opinion, Troy is still very valuable to this team for his versatility and experience
Also, I think it's an easy decision on who goes- either Matt Cassell or Matt Gutierrez. If Brady goes down, so help us all. I don't think Cassell will ever be a very good QB, and I don't think Gutierrez will ever play. I guess cut Gutierrez simply because Cassell knows the system.
Another less popular option would be to cut Tom Brady. His contract eats a lot of the salary cap, and his end of consecutive 3-TD games just ended. In fact his TD pace is now only 57, with a QB rating of only 128.

I was going to say if he's taking defensive snaps in practice, bye bye Eddie.

There's only two conclusions for Patriots fans on rookies. They are either a bust or being fitted for their bust in Canton.

The problem with Troy Brown is at his age and with his injuries he will not be able to fill any of the special teams duties of the possible players he would replace (Washington, Jackson, Baker). Gaffney has pretty much solidified the 4th WR spot and Washington sees about 2 snaps a game, if that, as the fifth WR but provides value on special teams. So im not sure where Brown would fit in or what value he would provide other than giving him a roster spot as a courtesy for the service he has provided....but I dont seen Belichick doing that as he values all 53 spots on our roster. By no means do I like Baker or Jackson in the game on defense and cleary Andrews hasnt progressed on that side of the ball and Merriwether is further away than we all expected, but I cant see them using Brown on defense.

IR Mel Mitchell, have Troy contribute on S/Ts. He deserves to be on this team and while BB tends not to be sentimental, in this case, I think it helps Troy's cause.

Just because Washington hasn't played doesn't mean Brown won't. I'd expect him to split time at #4 WR with Gaffney. Mostly, the insurance is the key, as he can come into the game as an emergency type player to fill any number or positions. Most of it is the trust the team has in him. You just don't get nervous when Troy Brown takes the field, regardless of position or role. Honestly, would you feel more comfortable with Troy Brown or Matt Cassell at QUARTERBACK ???
Re: Troy Brown decision day tomorrow- Should he make it? Who to cut?
Troy Brown can play the offense well, special teams well, and defense passingly. He's a perfect plug-in Patriot. Is Eugene Wilson actually coming back? There's a candidate right there, but if not him - yeah, there a few others who I'd rather see take a hike before letting an asset like Brown go, provided he is fully recovered.
