Probably. I wish he was someone else's GM, so he could trade all their good players to us when he got mad at them for random things of no real importance.

I just got done listening to the BM interview on WEEI today. I kinda like the guy. He's been listening to the coaches and trying to stick with his assignments. He seems humble and a team player. Hopefully he stays with the program. Hit em' again, Hit em' again, harder harder...
Wow, I'm quite amazed at how many times I've been called stupid in this thread. All for stating an opinion...my opinion. Be it an unpopular stance, it's mine and I stand by it.
Not that I need to substantiate my fandom to anyone, but I've been a Pats fan for close to 30 years. I have family that lives 15 mins from the stadium and have been to many games. I was also at the Houston Super Bowl, but I apparently am not allowed to express my disappointment about a player on my favorite football team.
Regardless of how long this thread lingers, I stand by what I said. Meriweather lacks in-game awareness.
Flame-on...I'll keep reading.
It's not your dislike for merriweather that made me say the post was bad, it was the reasoning. It's fine to say he is taking bad angles or freelancing therefore getting benched (like he was early in the year). But to take issue with him doing a little salute (for whatever reason) then saying you'd be happy with him off the team because of it... that is what i take issue with as it seems to me... and most others here like a very fickle reason.

I agree with that and if it seemed to you and others that I want him off the field for that one play, I apologize...that's not the case. This has been building for a few years now. Obviously I didn't compose the most thought-out argument, and that's my fault, but yes, Meriweather takes bad angles, yes Meriweather would rather try and make a sportscenter hit rather than a sure tackle. No, I don't believe he is a very good leader on the D, yes his style of play has made me really appreciate what we had in Harrison and what we're starting to see in Chung (fingers crossed that his knee is ok).
My gut feeling is that BB would rather he just play his role and not be so flashy...is that so wrong, hmm, I don't know. Thinking back on Rodney, he laid a fair number of big hits and he celebrated after a fair number of them, but never once did I find myself wondering why he was celebrating. I really wish Meriweather would have paid a little more attention while Harrison was there. Is that so wrong.

Not sure if this has been discussed, but Meriweather is finally on the "I'm ok with BB tossing his butt on the street" list.
The play that did it for me was yesterday against SD, Meriweather laid a nice hit on Crayton and then got up, all pumped, and did that stupid salute thing.
Problem, Crayton held on to the ball for like a 12 yard gain and a first down, and that play did nothing to stall the momentum of the SD drive.
It was like finger nails on a chalk board for me and just one more clueless act by Meriweather.
Good luck to you bud, have fun on your next team.
Stomper is indeed a clueless, undisciplined, overrated dolt, and I remember that play & thought exactly what you thought. However, we currently have nobody in the organization worthy of replacing him; so until we do, we're stuck with him.

I have to admit that I dont disagree with you at all. I wish Meriweather was less of a showboat..... I coud tolerate some of his antics (e.g."celebrations" and concern about hitting instead of tackling) more if he played a solid game. AND I also wished he would pick a more appropriate time to salute his friend. Juat because he happened to be on camera, didn't make it the best time to do it. What if he just got beat for a TD? Would he have saluted then too ?????
Patriots coach Bill Belichick was told about Anderson's praise and you can tell it made a big impact on him.
"I think that would be a first for me," Belichick said via the Boston Herald. "The officials are now evaluating the players and their performance. No, I mean that's great. [long pause] . . . I can't tell you how much that means to me, really."
LOL! Man, I wish I could have seen the look on his face when he said that.
There is something about Meriweather's game that really bothers me. Maybe it's the occasional flashes he shows like last year's sick pick 6. He is a talented player, sometimes a good player... but he is not a consistent or reliable player.

Meriweather reminds me of Asante Samuel
One game he is awesome, dominating and the best in the business.....the next week he makes huge errors and costs us games.
Just like Asante you never know what Brandon Meriweather you will get come Sunday.
