"Why the Patriots' success is bad for the NFL."

This should be interesting. My guess is it's going to be Mike Ditka repeating his line from a few weeks ago, "Nobody outside of Boston cares about them."

probably some crap about how parity is the most important thing, even though the highest ratings come from powerhouse teams like the pats.

Yeah, the possibility of a team emerging from the mediocre crap to be possibly the best team ever is bad. Who would want to watch history anyway ?

I'm working and can't watch so I'm depending on you guys to properly educate me on ESPN's pearls of wisdom on this topic.

Meh, nothing new. Pats best team ever, Undefeated 16-0, Dominant, League should be scared, blah blah blah.

The only noteworthy item to come out of that lame segment was Merril Hoge saying the only team that could beat the Pats are the Steelers (Wow, what a surprise). But we did not get the controversial opinion of Pats = badddddd that Kenny Mayne promised. Apparently ESPN's writers are on strike as well.

I just watched the segment, aaaaandddd...

nothing to report. Even the anchor, Kenny Mayne, was pitching the segment as "Is the Patriots' dominance bad for the NFL? I don't think so, but apparently there are some people coming up who will disagree...". Then they got to the actual segment, Trey Wingo phrased the question, starting with "in the PGA, there are two types of tournaments: the tournaments where Tiger Woods shows up, dominates, kisses a trophy at the end and walks off the winner... and then there are all the other tournaments", and proceeded to pitch the idea as best he could.

...and then Mark Schlereth and some other talking head basically competed with each other to see who could suck the Patriots' dick the hardest. They talked about how fun it is to watch this team, how compelling the quest for 19-0 is, and how much more dominant this team is than anything anyone has ever seen before. That was their answer to whether the Pats' dominance is "good for the NFL".

basically, nothing to see here. Just an ESPN excuse to see whether they could use that barb to convince some Pats fans to stay up and see if there could be anything interesting said about their team. Apparently not.

The one downside to this run the Pats are having is how pathetic other announcers are getting when broadcasting non-Patriot (i.e. completely irrelevant) games.

These clowns sound like they are fray boys cheering on a intramural flag football game between beer bongs. Give me a break.

My favorite part is Merrill Hodge saying that if the dominance continues into next year, it would be boring. Hope he's prepared to be bored, because it's highly likely next year's squad will experience similar and possibly greater success, depending on how free agency and the draft go, next year.

On that note, how great would it be if the Patriots went undefeated this year, then started off next season on a long winning streak? Sportswriters and fans of other teams would be going absolutely bat**** insane at that prospect.
