Default Dr. Z mid-season All Pro team

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...112/index.html

interesting thought...

GUARD: The first one's easy: Logan Mankins (Pats) is the best at his position in all phases. In the past few years I don't think I've been fair to Steve Hutchinson (Vikings), but I still don't like him as much as my sleeper, Jason Brown (Ravens). Or maybe Chris Snee (Giants).

CENTER: I don't see much past Jeff Saturday (Colts) or Dan Koppen (Pats).

WOW, he puts Mankins ahead of Hutchinson, that is high praise indeed. But what it really shows is the drafting genius of this team, every single first round pick (except Graham, but I think we can all agree he was an excellent pick) in the BB era is not only still on the team (which you can not say for many other clubs) but is a stud for this team.

p.s. the jury is still out on Merriweather

Hard to argue with any of his Patriot choices or near-choices -- Brady, Moss, Welker, Mankins, Koppen, Vrabel, and Samuel.

Should be on the pro bowl team this year:

Brady, Moss, Mankins, Koppen, Welker
Wilfork, Warren, Vrabel, Colvin, Samuel

He's right about Mankins too guys. Logan is the best at his position, and has no weakness in his game. Even coach Belichick talked about how good Mankins is in every phase, and he's usually more inclined to give opponents more praise, than his own players.

Merriweather is in a unique position, IMO. He really is the first of the 1st round picks to come in and not be needed right away, due to being an upgrade to the current player or because of injury.

I love Will Allen and think he would be an outstanding #2 corner but to anoint him an all-pro is a litlte ludicrous. He based his decision off of one game where there was a monsoon and the game was being played on a slip and slide, I think I could've covered Plaxico in that game.

And Wes Welker an all-pro? Please.

Not true, Watson was also slowly helped along after being drafted, and Warren didn't start immediately either.

Welker's receiving stats:
651 yards - 10th in the NFL
7 receiving TD's - 5th in the NFL
61 receptions - 3rd in the NFL

Maybe you might want to keep your mouth shut where Wes Welker is concerned?

If you can't think of 5 receivers better then Wes Welker then you need to watch some more football.
