Interesting insight in the never-ending BJGE vs. Maroney debate. Kind of hard to discount this one.

Every sign points to the conclusion that Maroney's failings were more off of the field than on it. In a year where leadership and work ethic were clearly the top personnel priorities, choosing the guy who works three times as hard to achieve 90% of the result does send a positive message.

Like I've said before maroney had incredible talent when he was drafted. He could twist and turn and change direction on a dime. Lots of his yardage came on misdirection / against the grain runs. After his rib area injury he couldn't do that anymore. Now if he had worked harder like Fred says ... perhaps he could have compensated a bit.

there are lots of youth athletes so blessed with talent that we never get to see in pro sports. For too many years they get by on sheer talent. perhaps it's best when the talent comes later on as we have see with the likes of Troy Brown and Wes Welker.

Not quite sure how you come up with 90%.

I really hope BJGE makes me look like an idiot for all the doubt I've had in him. It'll be interesting to see.

I have been a big BJGE supporter all through, but it's clear that Maroney still does things that BJ can't. Perhaps BJ can turn 90 into 110 -- I hope so -- but, at present, I'm with Patchick.

Considering the main reason the Pats continue to give BJGE shots is because of his work ethic, it isn't surprising.
