Default Brady closing in on Manning's statistics...

It is incredible how much ground Brady has made up in a single season, and now is threatening to catch Manning in lots of categories that at one time seemed impossible. Despite Manning playing in a dome, and always having all-pro talent around him, Brady's statistics are remarkably close. If the Patriots re-sign Moss, I would expect Tom to pass Peyton in many categories within one year, if his numbers continue at the same pace, it will be less than one year.

Career Statistics

QB Rating
Manning- 94.7
Brady- 92.2 (was under 89 to begin season)

Completion Percentage
Manning- 64.2%
Brady- 62.9% (was under 61 to begin season)

Yards per attempt
Manning- 7.7
Brady- 7.2 (was 6.8 to begin season)

TD/INT ratio
Brady- 2.21 (has passed Manning this season)
Manning- 2.01

Attempt/TD
Manning- 17.8
Brady- 18.8 (this category was once a landslide victory for Manning)

Attempt/INT
Brady- 41.6 (I believe this is the best ever)
Manning- 35.9

lol... for years Colts fans have cited these stats as the reason why Manning is leaps and bounds better than Brady... what will happen in six months if Brady passes Manning in all of them, breaks every single season record, and wins his fourth Super Bowl, despite the Colts having a better ranked defense?

Interesting. I have to admit, I always assumed that Manning was way ahead in the "gaudy" stats department. Thanks for posting it

This is the dirty little secret of the Manning-Brady debate - Manning has been a starter in the league for two more years than Brady. Manning in his 8th year of development MAY have been ahead of Tom in his 6th, but Tom in his 7th year is way ahead of Peyton in his 7th year (I think the year they got beat by the Steelers).

Brady will never touch Manning's all time great statistics. Brady did this for ONE year, while manning has been putting outstanding stats up for many years.

But these are not accumulative numbers, they are averages. Brady's numbers would potentially change faster since they're based on fewer years. But still, that they have changed so much in half a year is a reflection of how gaudy Tom's numbers have been this season.

Which stats are those???? I think that was the point of the thread. Brady's all-time stats DO touch Manning's. In fact, in the GREATEST QB stat ever (which wasn't even listed btw), Superbowl Rings, Brady leads 3-1.

Are there other stats not listed that you are referring to. Honestly curious too, not being a jerk. If you are refering to Career stats (like total yds, total tds, ect.)..... you really can't do that yet, cuz they are both in the middle of their careers. That's for when they are said and done.

lol...that is too funny! Way to brush off the thread that suggests the opposite. There is a reason why Manning has done it for many years.

Harrison
Wayne
Clark
Faulk
Addai

All first round draft picks, playing in a climate controlled dome.

Brady has almost caught him already, with only a half year to work with comparable talent.

Yes, but it is actually three years, and these are quantitative stats, while I posted qualitative stats, which balances out numbers due to an uneven amount of passing attempts.

Precisely, that's why it's unfair to compare those stats now. You can compare passer rating and "in progress stats" but totals are kinda unfair. Let's say Peyton retires this year to pursue a career in commercials , and Tom goes on to score 400 more TD's and 40,000 more yds in the next 10 years .

See, some stats are for later, some for now.

You completely missed the point.

Let me try again:

Manning has had two more years of in-his-prime stats to improve both his quantitative AND qualitative numbers. A fair qualitative analysis would compare Brady's career qualitative numbers in 2009 to Peyton's qualitative numbers today (each having 9 years as starters).
