Default View from D.C.

Im still a season ticket holder of the Pats, but i live in Maryland..

i figured i would provide a "view from DC"

1. The die-hards think they can win.
2. The realist fans, know that Gibbs and Sauders offensive playcalling is horrible, and the defense would need to score 14 points to even come close in the game.

they also know that there is no way that Campbell ( will be allowed ) to throw downfield, in order to avoid mistakes. the problem is, the only way the SKins win is by putting up 24+ points..

but Gibbs ( IMO of listening to his press conferences..shows..) isnt an NFL caliber coach anymore ) and doesnt have the 120% dedication.

Dont worry PatsFans, even if Brady has a bad game, this ones in the bag

Just curious about your assessment of Gibbs: Why do you say he doesn't have the same dedication and isn't up to the task? Did the game pass him by like people feared?

Also, what do you think of Snyder? Is he still a clueless rich punk?

this is my HONEST opinion. I dont dislike the skins at all, in fact, i think they have some of the most dedicated fans ive seen...

with the way Gibbs does his conferences, you would think that his team is 7-0 and winning by 30, he gives game balls to the ball boy and the field goal posts... you just dont see that winning drive, but more of a "glad to be here"

as for Snyder.....all about the dollar, all the time

I live in Annapolis, so I am stuck in Ravens and Skins h@ll! I actually find Skins fans to be more realistic than Ravens fans. Yes, they still live in the 90's glory years, but they get very frustrated with this team and coaches. No consistency from game to game....

As far as Portis, he wants to be a mouthpiece for the NFL and will do anything to get noticed. So the whole "we are more talented" quote was strictly to get people to pay attention.

The key to this game is the Skins O-line. They are extremely banged up and will have a tough time containing the pats d-line and LB's. If they fall behind early (like everyone else), they will be in BIG trouble. On top of that, their DB's are very overrated! Springs is ok, Smoot talks a big game, but hasn't been good in years, and Rogers can't tackle anyone.

I'm looking for another big win for the Pats!

I will post my Ravens thoughts later as that game approaches, but Ray Lewis is THE most overrated player in the NFL!

90% of the local sports media here in Virginia is picking the Redskins.

Talk about kidding themselves.

They had a power ranking and said the Pats where number two in the league, not number one, because, after all, they were going to lose this weekend.

I'd agree with that assesment....... I'd bet the box is pretty crowded Sunday.

I'm kind of surprised that a Pats fan would base their opinion of a coach on his press conferences?? Belichick seems to be comatose during his...I think good coaches know it is something that has to be done and their objective is to simply fulfill the obligation while shying away and/or distracting from any potential real discussion of the team or the game.

Welcome, I too, live in MD, and went to the last Pats - Skins game in '04. Skins fans are very loyal and actually treated the Pats fans around them very nice. I have to say that some of the Skins fans are crazy to the point of fanatical. The lady in front of me during the game would stand up and dance every time the Skins made a first down. Game day was a warm sunny, Sunday, and as the day went on, her layers were coming off, as the beer went in.

One of my favorite football fan stories is about a Redskins game, as reported by (I think) William Safire. This probably would have occurred during the Nixon Administration. And for context, you have to recall that a certain short and physically unattractive high government official with a thick German accent was proving oddly charismatic, and that in Washington even non-lawyers known how to talk legalese. And in pre-Jumbotron days fan opinion was formed immediately after the play.

Anyway, the fans were watching a Skins game, and emotions were running high. The refs called a dubious-looking penalty. Jumping instantly out of his seat and throwing his hands into the air in outrage, Henry Kissinger shouted:

"On vat theory???"

that was just an example. I listen to his peice on the Riggo show as well, and also past news articles.

Its a fact, that coaches ( like Belicheck, Reid, Gruden ) have put in 20 hour days 7 days a week, to gain an advantage...

do you think Gibbs does that....not a chance. He is just being outcoached by more dedicated coaches..

Do i agree that anyone ( let alone HC's ) should neglect there personal lives for there job?? Ask CEO's and Business owners, how they got successful...it wasnt M-F 40 hour work weeks...
