Default Patriots' name dropped in political circles

I read in a recent Rolling Stone (not that I normally read that, it was the only thing there), New Mexico governor and democratic presidential candidate was quoted to say

"It's a sad time when the New England Patriots get a stiffer penalty for spying on innocent Americans than Bush and Cheney do."

Now, I'm not trying to make any kind of political statement here, but I was kind of shocked to read this coming from a presidential candidate.
