No, it happened much differently, but that hardly matters.
Tannenbaum and Mangini came in almost as a tandem. They've been friends since their days in Cleveland with Belichick, and Mangini was the first and, I believe, only outside guy interviewed.
As I've said on both my own Jets board and this one, Mangini's body language of late leaves me with the impression that he has maturity issues, and I have to think that comes out in meetings, practices and, particularly, when the team most needs a strong leader in tough times like this. And so, we see things like Chris Baker openly questioning the play calling in the Monday news (and he was right, by-the-by). Things are unraveling quickly for the guy, and he's got to find a way to grow up as a head coach - quickly. There are some clear holes in personnel, but there's enough there to win some games in this league. At this point, though, it's less about the talent on the team, and more about the effectiveness of leadership. The pack doesn't follow a wounded dog.
