Unless you were busy cutting hoodie sleeves or had an appointment with Q to receive the latest UHF pen transmitter for your next spy mission, I'm guessing you watched Monday night's Dallas Cowboys-Buffalo Bills game.

Tony Romo was under pressure all night, but still had enough to win in Buffalo.

You saw what he did against Buffalo. Romo was beyond terrible. He threw not one, not two, not three, but five interceptions. And it could have been six, maybe seven INTs if the Bills' defenders didn't have anvils for hands. Plus, he fumbled once.

But I bet you leaned forward in your chair to see how he'd handle those six turnovers, an eight-point deficit with 24 seconds remaining, and a hostile crowd that about six hours earlier had egged the Cowboys' team buses as they drove single file down Abbott Road toward Ralph Wilson Stadium. Plus, he had a national "Is It Monday Yet'' TV audience watching the whole thing.

... Romo must have reminded you of your boy Brady. Hook him up to an EKG during the last two crucial drives and Romo would have flatlined. When it mattered most, he was stressed the least.

But Romo completed nine of 11 passes on a touchdown drive that pulled the Cowboys to within two points with 20 seconds left to play. Then, when the Cowboys somehow recovered the ensuing onside kick, he drove Dallas just close enough for rookie Nick Folk to kick the 53-yard game-winner not once (the first one was nullified by a Bills timeout), but twice.

"Wow,'' said Phillips.

Wow, said Belichick?

Romo's teammates knew you were watching this game. Even without cheating with a sideline video cameraman, you're one of the game's best at identifying tendencies and weaknesses. So of course you saw Romo's tendency to throw into cleverly designed Bills pass coverages. You saw his inability to identify those coverages. And you saw him commit mistake after mistake.

But he regrouped. He held himself and his team together. And he won.

Cowboys coaches and teammates adore this guy. When someone asked Phillips if he ever considered benching Romo after his fifth interception (an apparent game killer with less than six minutes left to play), the coach said, "Well, he didn't throw six …''

"I think the biggest thing they saw is this kid never gives up,'' Witten said. "He's a fighter, a winner. That's what he's about. I think Belichick knows that. I think the whole league knows that. If they didn't, tonight was a great way to show it.''

I'm sure you'll devise some defenses to mess with Romo's mind, and you'll do it with a better secondary than the patchwork (but tough) group the Bills were forced to use. That's your specialty.

But don't underestimate Romo. If nothing else he is a survivor. He survived North/Eastern Illinois. He survived being a no-name free agent. He survived the depth chart wars. He survived Bill Parcells. And Monday night he survived six turnovers.

You and the Patriots are next. So the question becomes: Are you ready for some Romo? Because I guarantee Romo will be ready for you.

There is a huge flaw in his argument aside from the Romo embelishment.

The Bills had pretty much no offense...only 3 points.

The Pats have a legit offense.... One of the top ones in the league.

So Romo throws 5 interceptions, single-handedly keeping a much inferior team in the game, and this is to his credit? I don't care if he lead them back. It was solely his fault they were there to begin with. You don't get credit for pulling yourself out of a whole you dug yourself. A win was expected and he barely managed that.

I also like the little bit at the end. If Romo wasn't ready for the Bills with 6 days of prep I don't see how he's going to be ready for NE in 4 days. Bill has faced better QBs. Romo has never faced a team like NE.

Dallas is one of those teams on our schedule we should avoid making assumptions about. Let's wait until the exact two digit margin of our win is known before we try to rank Dallas up there with good AFC teams. While it's possible we may win by 24 points, it's also likely we may only win by 10.

kinda funny that someone who writes for ESPN would sound just like a fanboy from a random Cowboys website. "Look how great Romo is! he threw 5 picks and still he pulled it out and won the game! he's the best ever!". It would really have been nice if the Bills had some kind of offense, or better late game 3rd down play calling, because if they had managed to put up one more field goal they would have won that game.

Romo had his head up his ***** that entire game, including the last part where he "won" it. BUT I wouldn't expect this from him in the game next week, that would be folly....but if he did deliver a similar performance you'd best believe that they aren't getting a win out of it. oh, and all of Belichicks spy gear might tell him to WATCH FOR AN ONSIDES KICK when the kicking team is down by 1 score with like 25sec left on the clock...WTF was up with that??

How does this guy have a job? The Bills scored what, 14 points off of 6 turnovers, and both of those were Pick-Sixes that the offense didn't even touch the field. If Romo gives us the ball 6 times, even if we don't bring them back for a TD, we should score 4 out of those six times at minimum, either FG or TD, with a touchdown more likely than booting 3.

Honestly, one thing stood out from me last night about Romo, and that was post game. Romo turns it over 6 times, and is sitting there on national TV happier than a pig in slop, joking about his performance. Tom Brady Sunday goes for what, 3 TDs, 200+ yards, and walks off the field pissed off and even in post game is pissed because more of the mistakes he made than the plays that succeeded. Romo seems happy to be where he is, lacking the killer instinct that he needs this weekend IMO, the instinct that Brady and the Pats have.

If Romo is compared to Brady after Romo's six turnover performance, who do you compare Brady to when he throws 3 TD per game?

I think it is the part about Romo throwing into coverages that he didn't recognize that amuses me.

The Cowboys run a typical gunslinger, seat of the pants, scramble and makes plays type offense. And that works well most weeks!

This week Romo is going to have to stay in the pocket and efficiently pass the ball and not mess around. That is not his style of ball.

If Romo gets on a streak, he will be dangerous. But if he can't play 60 minutes on a 'streak' we are going to shut down the gunslinger stuff at least long enough to win the game.

If Romo wants to win this game, he ought to seriously consider playing pocket passer for a game and just work on being efficient with the ball.

We do well when facing guys that think they can escape and scramble and come up with a big play. They usually end up with one or two big plays and a lot of bad plays against us.
