Default Sports Gods punish Met fans for Jets' sins

That's how I'm interpreting the Mets' mindboggling, historic late season collapse. As we know, the Met/Jet fan base is identical. Met/Jet fans: Tannenbaum brought this disaster on you. The worst is yet to come. Head for the Brooklyn Bridge.

I don't know about that assessment. Giants/Mets is a very common combination. Only masochists are Jets/Mets fans.

Tigers fan here. not all that pasionate about the Tigers though, I like the Yankees better then the Mets I like the Marineers better then the Yanks.

All I realy care about is the Jets and then the Blazers, Tigers a distant 3rd.

Long Island is the traditional fan base of the Mets/Jets. There are always a few outliers.

A standing ovation for the Sports Gods. They conspired to lay waste to the heartland of our bitter enemy today, handing the Mets the greatest collapse in baseball history, and wrecking the Jets' visions of sugar plums with a devastating defeat. I hope the Jet fans realize they are going to reap the whirlwind, unless they seek collective penitence. I suggest Mike Tannenbaum offer a tearful apology to Mr. Kraft, BB, and the Patriot organization, then commit hari-kari in Times' Square. That ought to do the trick.

I fixed your post for you.

[Love the Red Sox or hate 'em, what the Mets just did will never top the Skankee's 2004 choke job. ]

As a former NYC resident, I must disagree. I find tremendous overlap with Jet/Yankee fans...as a group, they are FAR MORE annoying than their Giants/Met counterparts. I don't think the Mets and Jets go together as tightly...

A friend of mine from NY is a Jets/Mets fan and says that's the majority. Imagine how these guys are feeling right now: just weeks ago the Mets were on their way to the division, got pedro back, and were the consensus pic for the series...and the Jets were fine and caused the pats cameragate.....what a difference a couple weeks can make!

Well if this is the case, all it proves is that the sports gods, like all gods, have a lousy aim.

Nonsense. Despite these random contrarians, the Mets and Jets are the traditional Long Island teams, as fans who know NY sports history understand. Don't blame your own lack of historical knowledge on the Sports Gods. They may take vengeance on you and lay waste to your neighbor's house with a lightning bolt.
