I'm sure he works out very hard. The guy is all heart. It actually hurts to see him lose a step, though. I love that man.

Bruschi has clearly lost a step ... but he still has effectiveness when placed in the proper situations. Bruschi used to be a 4-down LB and was great in coverage. It's the coverage part that has been taken away from him with Colvin and Thomas getting more of that.

Let's not forget that this was the initial reason why Bruschi displaced Ted Johnson when Ted could no longer drop back to cover when need be and lost his lateral pursuit speed. Linebackers who cannot cover even once in a while are near useless in Belichick's defenses.

It's amazing that Ted is still playing after the stroke ... he's on bonus time.
If we win the Super Bowl I think he puts himself to pasture ... a well deserved retirement if ever there was one. Bruschi can make as much or more outside of the game as he can make playing it. My opinion is that Seau/Bruschi tandem will be replaced my a younger player next year.

Speaking of Bruschi I forgot to add how much i miss him vaulting over the line to make a play ... that was so special to see. The look on the offensive players faces was priceless ... like how did he get in here so quickly with a sealed line. To this day you still rarely see that from a linebacker ... Ted was special indeed in his younger days.

I'll rewatch, but it definitely looked like Seau was playing at a higher level than Bruschi.

I certainly noticed that the defense was more effective when Seau was in there.
