I'm sure they didn't open the playbook. Once they got up that far, they shut it down. They really haven't done anything fancy yet. I'm sure they had more on the plate that they didn't use.
I've been on teams where we've done the same thing. Let's say you have a big game in the near future, you often start practicing new plays that you don't intend on using unless your back is against the wall for the current game. Sometimes, those plays turn out to be a primer for a dramatic shift in strategy for a game. Sometimes you think they're just change of pace plays until the week that you really want to use them is upon you. By that time, you've already got a feel for it.
I'm sure the Pats have brought out some looks to teams with the intention of showing the other team's scouts various looks that they need to prepare for without showing them some of the ways they can really use them.
I would not be surprised if the run game were emphasized this week just to get it rolling.
